TEESSIDER and Proud  of the area unlike some and I'm not a Racist

An excellent performance, Michael Carrick must be rightly proud of his team, look at the difference of subs introduced from both teams

Bottom line, we've been decimated with injuries this season, yet we fought Villa toe to toe for 90 minutes & still only 3 points off playoffs

Thought Carricks subs were spot on too

Gingerpig

engel was v good as left Centre half too ...as were other s

clarke

A really good team performance. I thought Clarke was immense, it's like having a new signing

Hes also a good CB whose calm & can play a good ball, hopefully his injuries are behind him

Great game and shows potential.  If only it wasn't for the disaster of a start to the season.

F me we agree, I need an Ovaltine. I still think we will be in the top 6.

Mind, you've been positive from the beginning of the season & upto our poor winless run, I would like to think with everyone fit we will be good enough to mount a serious challenge for the top 6

I reckon play offs will be achieved and if we play like today it's a very good shout to go up.

Gotta watch the Chelsea match from my work desk 🙄 at least I can get away with it I suppose.

tunstall

Proud of that performance yesterday we did well against a very good premier league side

It was fucking freezing in the ground like

Even more excited for the Chelsea game now as well

I'll be in The Pig before that one if anyone wants a good slippering

Eh? It was a dire 1st half.

I dont get this "well played" and "unlucky" palaver.

Happy with getting beat?

Our keeper got MOTM! Not a striker or defender! THE KEEPER!

That alone shows how lacklustre we were at times.

BoroRedKen

Glover stopped it being 3/4-0!

BoroRedKen

Would it all be "jolly hockey sticks" if it had been 4-0?........

BoroRedKen

And i hate fluffy white clouds, newborn lambs and fucking flowers!!

Do you even know who we were playing?

They're 2nd in the premier league

We've got bigger fish to fry. Getting our squad back for a start and hopefully making a push for the play offs

The last thing we needed was a replay

And the game on Tuesday is a much bigger occasion, semi final and all that

Obviously a lot of Boro fans felt the same way, which was reflected in the attendance

In With the Lurpak

It is what it is as they say, At one time the crowds used to sing "Stevie Gibson is king " at least 10 or more times during a match I heard it once last night  :diego:  The glory day's under Brian Robson are long gone since then if were all honest it's been down hill. He just doesn't have the wedge to compete at top level . it is what it is  :bigjack

BoroRedKen

So that Villa were not there for the taking last night?

Would rather have BEAT the 2nd in the PL than LOST to them.

What would a victory of done for everybody's morale? Heading into the Chelsea game after beating 2nd?

And it always comes back to 1 word.

MONEY.
A cup run brings in a nice wallop.

BoroRedKen

In schools they parrot "Its the taking part that counts". "There are no 2nd places only winners".

Thats why we have an upcoming generation that are as wet as water.

First off we're a midtable Championship team, at the back end of an injury crises, Villa are going great in the PL, with one defeat since November

Did Villa expect us to just lay over for them!

If we were to go gungho Vila would just have picked us off, regardless of us been under pressure for long spells of the game they wernt good enough to score, our defending was excellent & keeper stood firm, thats the main part of the game

Football is about 2 formations, trying to score & stopping the opposition from scoring, we did our side of it fantastically well

When the game kicked off Villa had possession keeping the ball for long spells, going down the right, unsuccessful, then went down the left, unsuccessful, we were doing our job, then Boro slowly got in to the game & the little triangles all over the pitch was lovely to see

The players will be gutted they lost out to a top PL form team to a freak of a goal, as things stand we didnt deserve to lose in such an ugly fashion

tunstall

Of course I'd rather we won

We gave a good account of ourselves and weren't embarrassed

On to the next game...much bigger event that one
