Well here we go but still gutted 😔
After our magnificent performance against West Brom on the final saturday of 2023, bringing our latest consecutive winning run to 3 games we certainly fell for the banana skin at rock bottom Rotherham on boxing day, ending our run & handing out to our South Yorkshire opponents, 3 Christmas gift wrapped points
We had double the possession, but possession doesn't win you points, we hit the bar, the post, yet is still wasn't enough in the end as we fell to a sucker punch, total lapse in concentration, a rare Rotherham break going forward to then, put the ball in our box & wham, the ball's in the back of our net, typical Boro moment, if ever there was one
So, with little time to feel sorry for ourselves we continue on our travels, again to Yorkshire, but this time the West, to face Huddersfield Town for our final fixture of the year, who, on boxing day, had a comfortable 3-0 home win over Blackburn Rovers

Following the Rotherham defeat the Boro drop down to 14th place, yet amazingly still only 3 points away from 6th placed Sunderland, who occupy the final playoff spot, the Championship couldn't be any tighter, but consistency is the key to climbing in to the top 6
Huddersfield are 4th bottom, 5 points above 3rd bottom QPR

We've already won at Huddersfield once this season, beating them 3-2 in the league cup at the start of our run to the semifinals, hopefully we can repeat that win & bring 3 points home to finish off a good 12 months under Carrick

Will Michael Carrick ring the changes?
I would stick with Engel over Bangura, Clarke done well on his full return & should keep his place, but VDB needs to be playing, whether he's carrying a knock is another matter, Coburn, McGree & Crooks should start with Greenwood, Rogers & Silvera rested, fingers crossed Latte Lath, if available, is on the bench

Johnny Howson, whose been great for us since joining the club will be, if selected, making his 300th appearance, what a milestone when you think he's played for a number of clubs before joining us

27/12/1920 - 1st away fixture between both clubs, Huddersfield Town 0 Boro 1

25th December 1957 - Huddersfield 1 Boro 0 our last ever Christmas day fixture

Huddersfield Town v Boro will be the 52nd meeting between the two teams in Yorkshire with the following record:

Won - 14
Drew -11
Lost - 26
Goals scored - 55
Goals against – 81

Just the one away hat trick v Huddersfield Town

10th October 1987 - Bernie Slaven became the 44th different Boro player to score 3 in a 1st team game when he notched his 2nd Boro hat trick in a 4-1 win (1st league Boro career hat trick) the clubs 29th away hat trick & 119th in total

Luke Coddington GK
Jonathan Hogg started out at the Boro, played youth level only for the Boro then signed for Aston Villa, ended up at Huddersfield where he has rocked up over 320 first team appearances

If Silvera plays they need to put a ball boy in the car park

Think we'll struggle here like

Udders 2 Boro 1

The coaching team need to show him how to hit a ball, position his body, he consistently balloons it, the beginnning of the season he was getting in good areas coming in & then blaze the ball wide of the goal, or over the bar, he sort of got over that, scored, had a few chances, then v Rotherham, he was back to his old lauch the ball self, he really needs to show composure when on the ball if he's going to succeed here

Gingerpig

If they can show silvera .......can they tell isiah to stop fkin sidefooting everything & kin smash the bloody ball when through & start to whip crosses in , he is so bloody predictable when through or crossing

Great read again Erimus

Huddersfield 3-0 cause until Carrick put a striker on up front I can't see us winning this one
TEESSIDER and Proud  of the area unlike some and I'm not a Racist

Ural Quntz

Probably the ground I've been to most after the Boro from when I used to work for David Browns there

The fans are alright as well

Not bothering this time though

erimus74

Work today & tomorrow then home to watch the match

C'mon Boro!

erimus74

Probably two of our forwards dont need shooting practise but basic rule on how to align your body as you're about to strike the the ball

Get Engel, who has a great strike technique, to demonstrate to both Greenwood & Silvera & ask them in turn to hit the ball, they'll learn off him because as night follows day they're not learning from anyone else

Nosmo-King

Hope we can return to winning ways, recent form - bar West Brom- not been anything to shout about. A banana skin game for us.

In With the Lurpak

Scrappy affair ending in a victory for Boro

Blott

I saw what I would class the best single performance by a Boro player at Huddersfield. Mr Merson.
