Reading that Tom who owned Sound it out Records passed away on Friday.

Knew him and his brothers from school back in the day.

I can now say I know of 6 people that I went to school with are now brown bread and I'm only late 40s.

Yes, without been to morbid, I say that at my age, im 63 later this year, i've been very lucky to get to 62

Sad, but there was only one shop in the Boro, that had the tunes.

Big shout to Tony Hargan, Fearnleys downtrodden minion, not a tune they didn't have, 'i'll look upstairs'

Bought some quality wax there

Best DJ in the Boro, period.

ANOTHER SOUND OUT FOR YOU MATE.. I KNOW YOU ARE MILES AWAY 👍 SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT BLOKE 👍

There is not a lot I can say about Tom Butchart that hasn't already been said in the last few days. Sound It Out Records' staff, customers, and friends - in fact anyone who has been a part of the shop's history, past or present - is in a very special gang.

And we've lost the leader.

Warm-hearted to a fault, never judgemental, and always there for you, Tom didn't actually run a shop. He ran a community centre. Money wasn't the motivator, here. Imparting knowledge and making great friends was the committed business ethos. It'll be difficult for many of them this week, as it is for those of us who worked with him.

I will miss him deeply, as I'm sure many of you will. He was a special guy. Incalculable numbers of you know that just as well as I do. From championing artists to instore performances to releasing records, he steered us through it all.

Thankyou for giving me the opportunity all those years ago to work in a job doing something I love, Tom. I'll always be grateful to you for that. It's been the best.

My thoughts are with Clare and Tom's family right now. Their loss - and the North East's - is unimaginable.

Thankyou to everyone that has reached out to me to offer their condolences, which I have passed on to his nearest and dearest.

Sleep tight, Bossa Tom. I'll spin Underworld's 'Rez' for you tonight, my mate.

Stu x

Agree with that Sir. Shout for the one upstairs in the Forbes building too.

The Mecca of record shop's is Berwick st in London (think it's on the cover of one of the oasis album's, were two Lad's are walking down the st. Sean Rowley is one of em)
Some proper gear in them shop's like, acetates, promos full shebang.

The internet has put paid to all the foraging. Use to love it personally.

First time I seen the movie High Fidelity (with John Cusack), brought lot's of good memories flooding back.

Big shout to the local aforementioned though.
Got some quality vinyl in both of them, that I still own now.

Sad how music has ended up as it was a massive part of My live, love.

Probably couldn't tell you any in the last 20 year's, which is the saddest.

Good music will always stand the test of time, whatever genre.

Then there's
'Dave'
Wow, just wow
David Ruffin must be turning in his grave . . .

Lovely Man Dean, use to drink in the bridge.
'Uncle Tony', with the mad hair, looked a bit like Tony  Iommi was in one of Dave Coverdale's first band's, think Fearnley played guitar too.
He was in a bad accident apparently.

But I don't know, best asking someone like  :westy:
Where's Me dinner . . .

Paul Rodgers from Valley Rd, Boot hill is Boro's best

There is a record shop just outside of Dallas called Josey Records biggest and best record shop I've been to in years.

They honestly must have close to a million Records for sale.  The stuff they sell online on Discogs ain't even out on the shop floor.

I spent over 4 hours in there last year, the wife was not amused.

Digging through Records was always a great feeling.

There was one just down from Jack Hatfields called Tuff Tribe if I remember the name correctly.  Was mid 90s and it was owned by Tino from The Arena.

Thats the fella - well remembered.

Often in there in my student days

I remember Deans record shop, and Fearnleys, if Dean didn't have a Northern Soul single in stock ,9 times out of 10 he could source one. Must have had some good contacts because what you to bear in mind is that most NS records where B sides. Two great record shops👍

DEAN WYCHERELEY WAS A TOP BLOKE... VERY HELPFUL... BOUGHT MANY RECORDS FROM HIM 👍👍👍
