There is a memorial for personnel who worked at Smith's Dock, that probably most of you didn't know even existed.

It can be found just inside the gate of Teesport Commerce Park in Southbank (the PD Ports entrance just round the corner from ASDA. I don't know why it's at PD, and not at A&P shipping (the old Smith's Dock).

The memorial consists of a sort of cabinet fastened to a wall at the entrance.  Inside the cabinet are a number of brass plaque's bearing the names of all that lost their lives.

This memorial is currently being given a full restoration, and the brass plaques have been sent for professional detailing.

I believe the grand reopening is 25th June (but don't quote me).

If any of you had relative's at Smith's Dock, or just wish to pay respects, then I would recommend you contact PD Ports head office at Queens Square in town, who I'm sure would be happy to give you all the info they have.
