TBH I feel more confident us playing away than at home

Big game v Pompey who sit second bottom of the championship on 23 points with a minus 14 GD & losing the last two including their last game a 3-0 away defeat at Blackburn
Boro who have dropped a place due to Blackburn's win have leapfrogged us into 5th place with the mighty Boro occupying the final PO slot

Pompey's previous two home game were a 4-0 win over Swansea & a 4-1 win over Coventry City so they have it in them to score goals & with our weak defence they'll fancy their chances to at least get a goal, even a win

On the plus side Boro are unbeaten in our last 6 league games with one defeat in the last 8

As we approach the weekend we don't know what players we have available, Conway is out till next month & probably longer if our history of when a player will return is anything to go by, Ayling & Howson, who knows, the Boro curse continues, Morris has been earmarked to return since the final fixture of 2024 & Latte Lath is in the middle of a potential big money transfer, so will he be risked if still at the club, Glover will for me deputies in goal with Dieng suffering with a mysterious injury, any news signings definitely not, one in out one so we'll see who goes first

In our last 6 league fixtures we've only won 2 so need to start turning those draws in to wins, we need to consolidate our place in the playoff pack, with Blackburn now in 5th with their first league win in 6 games Boro will need to beat Pompey with West Brom home to Stoke City giving their the opportunity to leapfrog Boro if we fail to win on Saturday
I did say after they drew 2-2 at the Riverside, a game which seen Tommy Conway score his first Boro goal when he rescued a point with a last minute penalty that Portsmouth will go down, still think they will, we battered them that day but again, as has been the case since Carrick walked through the door, we gave away 2 silly goals & throughout the game continued to pass chance after chance, with 70% possession & 28 shots at goal, more points dropped

We are 6th because we have field to protect leads, grab defeats from the jaws of victory, constantly conceded goals & miss chances to put games to bed, the second half of the season, starting at Fratton Park we have to be more ruthless at both ends of the pitch

Cheers rifle, I do feel more confident of us not only scoring but also winning on our travels as opposed to us being boring & predictable at home, never confident we'll keep a cleansheet, think we'll struggle v Pompey though theyre in the bottom 3 have a decent home record

Another great post, as always Erimus 👏

With Pompy playing midweek we should have the legs on them.

Will we see a superior Boro second half?
