Happy new year Red Roar posters

Chelsea, managed by former Boro manager John Neal, arrived at Ayresome Park for a 2nd division fixture, 2 days after we'd been battered at Leeds on the final day of 1983, losing 4-1 with Dave Currie scoring our consolation goal, but hopefully, fingers crossed, we can put everything behind us, start afresh with a home win & our 1st win since 26th November 1983

An attendance of 11,612 seen goals from Gary Hamilton, his 2nd of the season & Dave Currie, his 12th goal of the season, cracking goalscoring form, recording a 2-1 win over former Boro manager John Neals team, keeping all points on Teesside, as big Mal was waved his magic wand & steered us away from the relegation trap door

I have so much admiration for big Mal for his time at the Boro
