IMHO, Willie Maddren was the best Boro defender in my time & one of the best Boro players too
After going behind Willie Maddren scores his last ever Boro away goal & our final goal of 1974, capping off a great unbeaten December & to a larger extent, a great 1st half of the season, our 1st season in the top flight for 20 years, we were actually competing very well with the big guns of the 1st division
What a massive shame such an elegant, stylish footballer played so little top flight football, not to mention, the lack of international recognition
