My wife is suffering from pancreatic cancer and her diagnosis last January was not good.
She has a positive attitude and is incredibly brave.

My advice is to adopt the same attitude and fight it with anything you can.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you defeat this cruel disease

Really really sorry to hear this, Kippers. Words aren't easy to find I'm afraid- in my case at least.

Sending you my very best wishes -and a small crumb of comfort- everyone within this forum is willing you on to fight with all your might.

You're a courageous man for sharing. Keep the fight up.

Read the OP last night but felt uncomfortable about commenting on it at the time.

Yes, sleep was definately lost on my part, especially with regards to the Chris Hoy references having me wondering what the next 'trivial' ache or pain has in store for me.

Nothing but admiration for Kippers for putting it out there, not something I'm so sure I'd have the balls to do. The same goes for the other lads who've posted about the same horrible, unforgiving illness.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

So it's stage 4 liver cancer.
Or more accurately colon cancer in the liver.
3 months of chemo (infusion and tables) coming up every 2 weeks.

It was hard telling the kids but we know where we are now and the fight begins in a couple weeks

I'm similar to you, every 2 weeks, infusion & tablets, next Monday I'll complete my third chemo cycle with December to go for my 4th & final cycle, then we'll see where we are. I know its easy to say, but please try & remain strong, its so important, eat as much as you can & remain positive for your family. Best wishes kippers

That must be incredibly hard to hear and then explain to your loved ones.

Wishing you well in your fight against it.

It is easy to say it but you do need to stay positive.  You will have some low days but you have to remember that people are supporting you all the way.  If you need a shoulder to cry on, I'm sure we are all here for that.  If you want to tell someone to fuck off, we can handle that too.

The same goes for you erimus.

BoroRedKen

Well said Spike.
I echo your sentiments mate.

I offer thoughts and prayers to ANYBODY from these boards going through and fighting this plague. Its not an illness. Its a plague. These lads should not be suffering like this.

But what Spikè says.
👍👍

Riccardiniho

Sorry to read this Kippers.

My heart sunk in to my stomach when I read the opening post as I've been suffering a pain in my shoulder for almost two years now, I knew mine was caused from a fall but seeing dull ache in your shoulder had me thinking, is it something worse than a fall.

Turns out it's damage to my rotator cuff and a longstanding injury to my collarbone (which I'm totally unaware of any injury to the bone throughout my life).

Sitting in the reception room waiting on my cray results I had your opening post floating around my head. Safe to say, I was bricking it.

My thoughts are with you, fight the good fight Sir.

BoroRedKen

Phew. Good news Dinny.

Still extremley painful i imagine but i can only imagine the sense of relief you must of felt fella when you got your result.

🙏

Couldnt agree more Norman, as bad as the diagnosis may seem & it will be a massive blow & how you'll fight it head on, but believe me positivity is so, so important to not only your well being, but your loved ones too, without gatecrashing Kippers diagnosis, I attended Normans coffee club feeling a tad low & needed something away from my family & issues & believe me, when I walked in, with some of my memorabilia, I was nervous & even thought I shouldn't be there with what's inside of me but walked out feeling 10 feet tall, I never mentioned what I had but totally forgot my condition as we laughed, talked about Boro & other things it was something I needed so much.
Please dont think im over excaggerating what im saying & although I presently feel nauseous & missing my third if 4 home games I still feel bubbly, bouncing & even honoured that im walking in the same shoes as my brother & sisters

Very early one morning in JCH following my bowel Op I was sat up in the ward chair & as I stared at the 2 other patients in the room who were fast asleep I got upset just thinking of how far I have come, through all those meetings, biopsys, Ops, in such a short time & still have chemo to come, days like that will hit you, but I felt proud I had done it without upsetting anyone

Please keep strong kippers, please stay positive, even when you dont feel up to it, mindset is a big thing in helping yourself & your family cope over the coming months
