Why even bother?

It costs them fuck all in reality to make that offer (as other increases will clearly outweigh it) but puts out some supposedly "good news" as a smoke screen trying to cover the havoc they have caused with the other tax rises.  It's 6th form level bullshit politicking.

It's the same "strategy" with "leaking" potentially terrible tax changes that didn't come to fruition.  Everyone is supposed to have a sense of relief and ignore the shit they have actually done.  "Well it's bad but at least they didn't do XYZ".  Fuck off you useless fucks.

The only accountability for an MP is being voted out - which isn't much of a penalty for ineptitude.  Plus most constituencies are so staunchly one way or another that is highly likely to ever happen anyway. 

Start jailing or fining the cunts for the impact of their piss poor decisions ruining the economy, law and order, fabric of society - they might change their tune.  Currently they just want to play politics and feel important knowing they will soon leave after creating a mess with a few company board positions in their back pocket to fill their retirement funds.
