My mate (originally from Loftus) lives in Boca Raton in Florida. I think its a little bit south of the predicted path of Milton but he's concerned about the storm surge more than winds. He says it's been raining non-stop for a few weeks already.

I was wondering which will be the first paper to use "Paradise Lost" in a headline after Milton smashes through Florida.

Too Much Perspective

Each to his own, but why do people retire there when they know the weather's mental in that area and always has been?
If I was a yank, I'd be thinking more in terms of a lodge near one of the great lakes. Fishing etc, nice scenery, no drama.

It was three years ago that he said it. Advising people to get the Covid jab before the shit hit the fan during the annual hurricane season.

The generally good and very warm weather AND no state income tax.  We pay federal and state income tax -but about half a dozen states don't have state tax.  Unsurprisingly they all have a lot of retirees move there (although some of that saving is negated by relatively high property, healthcare costs etc).
