(depends who you speak to) been told on one hand I'm in slim shape so not to worry, then you get the ones that want to fill you with pills. It's the same with me Mam and her dementia. You get the chemist tellin me not to give me Mam a couple of slurps to take to bed with her paper as it might kill her, then you've got her doctor tellin me to carry on(shes always done it. Two slurps and a paper). And they wonder why people are Googling symptoms...

Man alive.
Coping with a parent with dementia must be soul destroying some days.

You have my respect and admiration mate.

Been prescribed same pills as Lids.. one per day and then she dropped the bombshell.....cut out salt, cut out caffeine, ideally stop drinking...

I've ordered some recipe books aimed at high blood pressure to give me some meal ideas. Also going to make my own bread with no salt otherwise that would have to go as well.

Stay away from doctors, they make you ill.

You can't get an appointment at my Drs for a bag of gold so I don't bother now, you can't live forever anyway. :morgan:

The salt isn't a problem , I stopped using it (apart from on fish and chips ) soon got used to the taste , I still drink in moderation..... ish 😂

Just had my first 6 monthly call from my doctors regarding my present condition, along with my bloods taken & due to what I've been through over the past 5 months my cholesterol has jumped massively from 6.2 to 7
Mind once my chemo is complete, back end of the year, I will have to see what I need to change moving forward

Table salt is basically poison

We don't use it

Only 20% of the cholesterol in you comes from your diet, our bodies make cholesterol because we need it. It's not the enemy they'd have you believe.

Anybody with "high cholesterol" and / or being pressured to take statins to reduce it - watch this

My mam would open a magazine & see a picture of a cake & her cholesterol would rocket, my dad would eat cakes, biscuits etc for England & his was always low

Since having my annually fitness test at work my cholesterol has always been between 5.8/6.2

So yes agree, there is only so much you can do to control your readings

This is more a case of you don't need to control it, it's a good thing. They've got us hooked on lowering cholesterol.
There are 30 trillion cells in your body and each one of them would perish without cholesterol. Cholesterol is a "repairer" not a "damager".

Watched a GP on Youtube saying the same thing

You need Cholesterol - keeps your brain lubricated or something

He pointed out other drugs that shouldn't be advised without a good regime of monitoring the impact on your levels, which is something GP's are loath to do because a blood test costs them

Second after statins was blood pressure and thyroxin boosters next
