A fantastic & thoroughly deserving home win last Saturday against Stoke City, moving Boro up to 8th place on 11 points
Leading up to the Stoke game the atmosphere following the awful performance against Sunderland was poor, then more bad news, both Conway & our most influential defender Clarke dropping out with suspected hamstring injuries

Micheal Carrick made a couple of changes, some forced, when bringing in Dijksteel at right back with Ayling moving inside for the injured Clarke to partner Edmundson, McGree replacing Conway & Azaz playing as a No10 & it worked fantastic throughout the 90 minutes, Doak MOTM, McGree is so vital to our game & Dijksteel played so well

Providing there are no injury concerns I would think Michael Carrick will stick with the team that started the Stoke City game, or maybe start VDB alongside Edmundson & put Ayling back in his right back slot, which will again be a big disappointment for Dijksteel who had a tremendous game v Stoke
What a difference seven days & an excellent win, three points & a cleansheet to boot

With the introduction of VDB v Stoke in the 71st minute could he be in contention for the West Brom game?

So, after a few days rest we travel to the West Midlands to face Championship leaders West Brom on 16 points who on Saturday, suffered their first defeat of the season away to Sheff Weds, with the possibility of facing a former Boro player Paddy McNair who hasn't seen any league action for West Brom, a few games sat on the bench, so far he's only played 60 minutes of league cup action

Bit of stats between both teams in these fixtures over the years
A big Boro goalscoring CF the 1st time a Boro player has made a debut against the same team 'twice"
An end of a legend

2nd January 1915 -  Boro Scottish CF Andrew Nesbit Wilson made his debut in a 1-0 away loss at WBA, he played a full season before he enlisted to join the army for the 1st world, early 1918 he was injured in Arras when shell fragment shattered his left hand & was invalided home & allowed to play in Scotland, during his time there he continued to score goals & as the Boro still held his registration he was recalled back to Teesside when on the 29th August 1921 he made his "second" Boro debut at WBA in a 0-0 draw
3rd September 1977 - Record signing Billy Ashcroft made his non scoring debut in a 2-1 defeat, also making his scoring debut that day was Cyril Regis
3rd September 1977 - One of the best defenders ever to pull on a Boro shirt & a legend of Charlton's Champions, Willie Maddren, played his final Boro 1st team game
3rd September 1977 - Another one from Charlton's Champions, Peter Brine, played his final away game at the hawthorns, coming off injured early in the 2nd half, he played one more game the following week & had to retire through persistent knee injury
16th March 1974 - West Brom 0 Boro 4 - Promotion contenders West Brom just blown away on their own pitch
29TH December 2019 - West Brom 0 Boro 2 - Ashley Fletcher scored a wonder goal, with TV pundit Ian Holloway described Ashley Fletcher's wonder strike at West Brom as a goal he could watch all day & all night!

14/12/190 - The 1st fixture between these two team in the west midlands Boro losing 2-0

WBA v Boro fixture will be 51st fixture at the Hawthorns between the 2 teams with the following record:

Stick with the same team as Saturday 1-2 Boro

TommyDickfingers

Didn't we play WBA on the FA Cup run to the 6th Round in 81 ?

Me and my Dad used to go to my Uncles on Warwick Street before the match and seem to remember the plod escorting the away fans through the streets and loads of Boro coming out of the alleyways and launching Lowcock bottles at them !!

Anyway

West Brom are in decent form despite Saturday, so I'd take a point to be honest

WBA 1  Boro 6

Boro to match the E-Mans consistency, 2-1to Mighty Boro

Yes we beat them 1-0 at Ayresome Park in an FAC 4th round cuptie.
Ian Bailey grass cutter somehow went under Albion GK's body, when he could have thrown his cap on it

Also that game is remembered due to David Hodgson, who missed the game due to being suspended, stood in the holgate with his mates
