1893/1894 season - Middlesbrough Ironopolise played their 4th second division league fixture since making their debut in the football league

Losing the 1st 3 fixtures (0-2, 1-6 & 0-4) in the middle of those defeats was an away game at Ardwick

23rd September 1893, Ardwick were the 1st team we were to play twice, away & home & the fans at the Paradise ground were in for a treat when at the 4th time of asking, the Nops won their 1st football league fixture & first clean sheet to boot, as the Boro ran out 2-0 winners

Losing the 1st ever away league game  6-1 at Ardwick who later in the season they became Man City, so sweet revenge beating them on this day

23rd September 1899 - Our 5th fixture in our debut season in the football league mighty Boro finally came up trumps when beating Grimsby Town 1-0 at our Linthorpe road ground, it was our 2nd home game as a league club (same as the Nops) recording our 1st ever football league win & our 1st clean sheet (again, same as the Nops)

Robert Eglinton, registered No19 to play for the Boro, scored the only goal of the game he become the 1st Boro player to score on his away, home & FAC Boro debut

Attendance - 4,000
