Boro flashback

Jock Stein had tipped off big Jack at a sportsman dinner regarding Bobby Murdoch becoming available & would he be interested
He didn't need to be told twice & within days of the dinner Bobby had travelled up to Teesside & signed on the dotted line
Bobby Murdoch, a former European cup winner, who, along with big Jack, featured for Boro reserves a few day earlier, against Halifax Town in a north midland league game travelled with his new team mates to Blackpool for this 2nd division fixture

When Bobby, wearing the No7 shirt, made his debut, replacing Eric McMordie, he was registered No496
Apparently in among the home attendance of 14,784 were many Celtic fans who were in Blackpool at that time, attended the match to see their former Celtic idol

The match ended goalless, our 3rd goalless game on the bounce (Charlton out)

Blackpool were the only team we failed to score past that amazing season
