Is Carrick a fraud?

The wheels might not have come off yet but there has to be serious questions asked.

I dont think he's a fraud, he came in & rejuvenated us in his debut season, struggled last season due to losing 4 big players, bringing in a number of new, young recruits along with a handful of longterm injuries
This season has the same trademark of Carricks management here when he comes up against teams who sit behind the ball & continues to fail, as I said on here last week, big, big season for Carrick

Hound

He had us playing decent footy when he first came in,
We need a couple of strategies rather than playing the same way against every team, we have been found out, tippy tippy outside the opposition box and try to walk it into the net, let's get some crosses into the box for our players to attack (not straight at the goalie)

Carrick isn't a fraud at all. He's been instructed to pander to all those post-Ayresome, nouevaux fans who thought 1996/97 was the greatest football of all time!

I don't think he can change our style, or want to see him do it either, if he changed it around he'd be gone by xmas

Our issue is moving the ball quicker, put the defensive team on the back foot, minimise the ball going from Deing to Clarke to Edmundson & back again, to Hackney etc, which give the opposing team enough time to regroup & get behind the ball. The best passer of the ball we have at the club is Barlasar, he needs to be played to ping balls across the park, easier said than done but thats down to the coaching team to implement

We can't keep clean sheets and we can't score goals.

It's a recipe for disaster.

Yes we've had injuries but at the moment the performances aren't good enough. It's as simple as that.

Agree, looking at the two away games we've lost & the two drawn at home its as clear as day that something has to change, not necessarily the style, as Carrick points out, more so the quickness of getting from A to B

We cant continue to allow teams to just sit in & frustrate us, the fans wont stand for it, Gibbo won't stand for it
Carrick & Woodgate have a week to finetune the tactics v Stoke, a team Carrick has failed to beat at the Riverside in the 3 meetings since becoming manager

I saw an interview from yesterday where Carrick said he has no intention of changing the style of play.

This I find disappointing. And, ultimately could be both to our cost and his.

My admiration for him is somewhat diminishing. I fear that unless there is a complete sea change in our results we will struggle to make the play offs.

Agree 100% Erimus.

It's not the style it's the speed (or lack of) at which we implement it.

Plus our left hand side needs sorting attacking wise.
