I find it hard to see how Howson was offered such a big lucrative 12 month contract due to how the club, more or less, knew he'd be used sparingly this season, at 36 he was never going to be a regular in the first team & TBH, offering a player of that age, regardless of his excellent service to the club & a player I think highly of, could back fire on the club with some of the younger players, who are worth millions, feeling a bit let down if its true regarding their inferior salaries

He was on £25k a week when Leeds were in the prem, but their entire squad had relegation clauses which dropped their salary by 50-60%.

So last season at Leeds he was probs on £10-12k a week. If we've matched that salary on a 2 year contract, I'd say he's done well.
