The big issue with Carrick is he appears to not learn lessons that the whole world snd his brother can see. Individual and collective errors from defenders, requiring a multitude of opportunities to convert, this ridiculous reliance on far too much passing at snails pace, through lto a lack of a killer instinct that's prevalent throughout the team.

Changes in playing personnel doesn't seem to correct the deficiencies that we have. The common denominator? Carrick.

Sadly he's a one dimensional manager who's team, tactics and pattern of play has been well and truly sussed.

Carrick seems to have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to taking on shit house teams.

We did seem to miss that extra bit of talent to push us over the line yesterday too.

We've still got McGree to come back, Forss is back in training..

Slow starters who do better against big teams if we can avoid a huge amount of injuries we should do better than we did last season (8th)

Very early days for me, we have great squad for this league, and new players are still bedding in. Mcgree is our best on the left and Doaks will be on the right. Hamilton is clearly is going to take time, bit like Rogers last season. LL needs to get his head back on the right way and realise IF he wants prem football, scoring goals is the only way to get there. We still have Rav to come back and Morris who was effectively missing yesterday. Once we settle into this season, we will be ok. Top 2 I'm not so sure, but defo play-offs this season. Also, the so called dog shit teams are going to park the bus at home games, otherwise they know they will get hammered. You'll probably find it's the teams at the top that will open games up for us, as they won't sit back.

Preston are obviously a limited side, and yet their boss was making changes at half time.

It was in fridays gazette their manager saying he knew how we would set up, play etc & between all that he instructed his team to frustrate us & then at the right moment bring his subs on, masterclass from Preston TBH, which Pompey did likewise, as did Derby
Its not rocket science for any teams coaches to watch & suss out any team in the Championship but carrying that out on the match day is another thing, all 3 teams mentioned have done that, though in Boro's defence it wasnt for the lack of efforts on goal

I desperatly want Carrick to succeed here & still say, signing an extention to his contract was our best signing of the summer. Do we need luck to have the ball fall for our attackets in the penalty atea, do we need to play the ball faster between keeper & midfield, do we need a few more Ayling through balls, all things for Carrick & his team to ponder over the next few weeks

I do think the Sunderland game will be more for our liking than Preston & Pompey teams
