Quote from: Mams Spaghetti on September 03, 2024, 09:55:40 AMJust begs the question are car drivers just meant to trundle along at 20mph until an opportunity to overtake arises allowing cyclists to continue their little chats :-)

Yes cars dont own the roads.

As you may of guessed I am a cyclist, like most cyclists I have already paid vehicle tax.
And if I crash into a car I aint going to cause anywhere near the damage a car will do if it crashes into me.
You paid tax as a motorist not a cyclist and bikes can do a lot of expensive damage to paintwork. :rick:

So you would rather I drive my vehicle adding to the congestion or ride my bike reducing congestion?

Looking at the state of many cars on the road I would say my bike is worth more, its certainly better maintained.
That's irrelevant to

That's got nothing to do with what I posted.

Road tax is determined on emissions so it would be free anyway.

You mean like the emission free electric vehicles that are going to be paying road tax from next April?

In April then you might have an argument. but then you will also have to tax Scooters. Invalidity carriages , kids bikes, push along bikes , wheel chairs, horses, donkeys, shopping trolleys etc etc etc  anything that at some point can and are used on the road.

It's not me that's putting the tax on emission free cars Pete,
It's 2 Tier Keir.

By the time they are done taxing us Cycling may be the only way we can afford to get around.

Quote from: tonyangelino on September 03, 2024, 01:09:04 PMThere's bad drivers and good drivers, same goes for cyclists. You two sound like right arrogant cunts.

I'm confused, what's arrogant about following the Highway Code?

Just asking.

Yep, £325 for mine, also pay more per mile in fuel.

Good that you started cycling again

I was knocked off my bike about 15 years ago, near to the Coronation pub. It was November time, about half 5 in the evening, I had that many lights on my bike I lit up like Blackpool illuminations, I was cycling on the road inside & thinking oh the lights on red, then thud, a driver drove into the road & hit me, smashed up my 12 month old Claude Butler bike

Got the insurance for another bike, like for like & still cycle to this day day, well, put in hold for the time
