I just nearly stood on one of these buggers in Allerthorpe Woods!!
Nearly shat!!

Fuck that, hate snakes, poisonous or not.

Westlane_rightwinger

Thought this was going to be about Edmund/Rowan.

Beauty that.

The female of the species is more deadly than the male.

*Some of the above is made up.

I should point out that the photo is not mine. I found a similar looking one on the interweb.
I thought it was dead at first so gave it a nudge with my boot, when it moved I shat myself and backed off as it slithered into the scrub. My Irish Terrier Reg was totally fucking oblivious to a fat snake about two foot from him!

Kill your dog them ones Terry, I would be cautious mate

TerryCochranesSocks

Reg would knee cap it and then burn it's house down - he's an Irish Terrierist

There are signs at the entrance to the woods informing you what to do if your dog is bitten by an adder.
I first saw them when I had Bear, my Leonberger who weighed in at a healthy 83kg !!

The advice was that you should keep your dog calm and carry it back to your vehicle and then seek medical attention at the local vets who hold the anti-venom.

I thought that if I carried Bear back to my van it'd be me that needed medical attention.

This was Bear..

tunstall

Did he shit in the woods?

He was one of a litter of only 2 pups, he was the smaller one. The other one died at 10 weeks.
Bear lived to 6 and a half years old. He was about 40% bigger than Leonbergers are meant to be. A show stopper when walking him anywhere and we gave him a happy (pampered) life. Losing him so young finished me for giant breeds though.

My sister did a tour out there when in the army, she loved it, it literally was a holiday camp she stayed in. Enjoy.

It will be my 8th time. I'll be out in the wilderness for most of it. It's pretty good though you get to be amongst some cool animals but everything wants to either kill you or eat you 🤣
