Starmers promise to not put taxes up lasted 3 months.

We're all fucked.

Tax the rich, which in turn pushes them out of the country to avoid them being robbed. Then, when that doesn't work tax the working classes, creating more poverty for those already struggling.

I've never known a Government that that has already sealed their fate so early for the next election. They won't even be the opposition the way they are going.

Blott

Here is a guess; he won't put up, Income Tax, NIC, VAT or corporation tax.

Hopefully he will stiff Capital gains and Inheritance tax.

Clem Fandango

Labour raises taxes.  It's what they do.  No one should be surprised by this.

They are getting this in early while they can still blame the Tories.

Kippers

Appears that Sunak was correct during the TV debates and it also appears that this cunt hasn't got a fucking clue and will spend the next 5 years sending us backwards.

Doesn't sound very business/investment friendly either.

Clem Fandango

Politicians don't understand that businesses can easily now vote with their feet.  They don't have to set up shop anywhere.

The local San Francisco city politicians are rejoicing because Twitter is relocating from here to Texas.

They rejoice because "Musk bad".  Merrily forgetting the jobs and taxes lost for the city they supposedly "manage".  Retail is shutting up in downtown SF due to crime, people don't go into the business district for work now, due to crime and the expense of commuting/parking etc.  The city "leaders" sit back and do fucking nothing to encourage positive change and the death spiral continues.

When the funding for their mindless "trans child minding" initiatives runs out they may do something - but will more likely just fuck off somewhere else leaving the mess behind for adults to sort out.  The useless cunts need jailing or lining up.

fukyu

Inheritance tax needs to be scrapped, it's not a rich man's tax it's a tax on prudent family's. The final act of the state, taxing you for dying.

Nosmo-King

£7 million a day housing illegals - no plans to tackle this. £2 billion plus a year. For a country on its uppers makes perfect sense doesn't it?..

New Division

He's going to play this 'we've been left in this situation by the previous government' card for all its worth, even longer than the 'my dad worked in a factory' one.

teamboro

I'll keep saying it till it sinks in it's all part of the plan when will you lot wake up 2 things guaranteed in live taxes and death

TEESSIDER and Proud  of the area unlike some and I'm not a Racist

Kippers

What about all these big corporations they were going to go after and all the offshore banking ?
Oh that's right, it's chicken feed. Offshore banking ended years ago in IOM, Jersey and Switzerland.

Tell you what should be a level playing field though, private pension tax relief. 25% across the board.

Wanting to stiff people of their hard earned, which will be many small businesses, and taxing money that has already been taxed. What a horrible bitter man you must really be.

ZiEgE

Starmer can put it up as much as he likes, the wealthy won't pay a penny of it. Tax hikes only hit the middle and working classes.

That's because the wealthy know not to earn a salary or cash out assets.

Their money is hidden behind debt, their assets held in complicated trust structures so as to never incur capital gains or inheritance taxes.

Tax is for poor people, that's why they're poor.

ZiEgE

I also love how they all start pretending to be fiscally responsible. At least until the next 'big thing'. Then the money printers can spin up again and we can start spending like it's not our money.

Obviously, we can't do that for normal working class people. We can't build them affordable housing or invest in schools abs hospitals. But we've got billions for the bankers, the weapons manufacturers and big pharma when they come knocking.

I wish I was paying £250,000 a year in tax. I would not be moaning.

how am I bitter? I am simply saying pay additional tax,not over 40 pc on non earned income. It's you who does not want to contribute.

I wish I was paying £250,000 a year in tax. One thing is for certain I would not be moaning about it.

Using the word stiff for starters, like it's a crusade against people who have worked hard for their money. The rest of your shite, not worth commenting on as usual.

I've worked hard for 40 years, paid my taxes and now retired.
I'd like to leave something for my daughter when I die but Starmer wants to tax my pension and my legacy.
