So sorry to read what you went through Ken, that's absolutely horrific.

I'm about to submit my own complaint to PALS for something that happened prior to me giving birth, can't really be arsed with filling in forms but would like to think me submitting it might stop anyone else from going through the same.

Quote from: Kippers on August 19, 2024, 06:59:39 PMSo let me get this straight in my mind, we owe all Somalians a living because of fishing issues that has nowt to do with the UK?

We want doctors and nurses in the uk. The most cost effective way to do that is train kids from leaving school. Otherwise we pillage African countries of their best people.
We don't need drug dealers, vagabonds or villans
no I showed as an example. To quote someone far cleverer than me 'we reap what we sow'

I totally see the sense of you complaining. I can only imagine that giving birth has its own pain and possible complications but complications just before birth that maybe because a error was made i cant even begin to imagine the possible mental anguish added into the "mix".

Hopefully you and the young 'un are well and good now.

Thankfully nothing bad for the baby, they were inducing me and gave me a sweep without my consent, which was incredibly painful and super invasive. Had never even discussed sweeps prior to this happening so was an insane thing to happen without a warning and especially without being asked first.

Easy to brush off at the time, you don't want to make an enemy of the people whose job it is to safely deliver your baby!

BoroRedKen

Knowing what a sweep is im actually horrified that was done without "warning".

Also nobody in a month of Sundays could ever have predicted that "sweeps" would be a topic on RR!

I was going to make a joke about most of the lads on here think "Sweeps" is Matthew Corbett's other glove puppets best mate but im not saying the puppets name for love nor money!
Fuck that!

My Mother in Law was in and out of JC with illness last year. Nearly every time she was in something went wrong. The last time she went in despite not been on her feet for weeks the nurses encouraged her to walk aided to the toilet. The next day she fell and broke her hip and wrist. She quickly went downhill and died 2 weeks later. The report from the Hospital was a bit of a cover up. The coroner wasnt happy and ordered an inquest which recorded death by accident. Anyway my daughter is about to start her second year at Teesside uni as a trainee nurse. Shes hoping to make a difference and hopefully things work out ok for her.

A post that contains a very sad story ended with a great positive note.

Best of luck to the young 'un mate.

Was definitely a shock at the time! Some people get offered gas and air for a sweep, I genuinely thought I was going to pass out.

Hahaha not the sweeps you lot will be used to!

Borope sorry to hear about your MIL, hospitals seem to rush patients out as quickly as possible it's a shame.

My granddad about 10 years ago was in my opinion discharged prematurely and ended up back in hospital, they found him passed out in his house, ended up I think with an infection and died not long after.

Hope your daughter makes a positive difference, it's a relief knowing people are going into the job because they actually care! Good luck to her I'm sure she'll smash it.

I have no idea what a sweep is and I'm not googling it.

I read their article, you can see the daft assumptions, I pointed one blatant one out. My source is their own article.
I haven't commented on any graph.
I know because it fits your voice.

I hadn't even looked at the fucking graph.

As I said earlier, I can only speak from my own experience & with another full body scan this afternoon I have been dealt superbly with my treatment so far

Quote from: Blott on August 19, 2024, 02:46:48 PMYou make a fantastic point, of ourselves there has to be controlled immigration. But it would help if the West were not so fucking greedy. We read about Somali pirates, they are pirates because we, the west decided to pretty much empty their fishing waters with bottom of sea trawling. Somalis never did this.

Which countries illegally fished Somali waters?

Was it the UK? The US?
Or was it not permittedstan, Yemen, Iran, Thailand, China?

it was the EU, Russia and Africa.

We have to take some of the blame.

According to the 'net - "Somalia has a long history of illegal fishing by foreign vessels, including those from Iran, India, China, not permittedstan, Spain, and Yemen" No mention of us.

Somalians bring so much to the uk.

£9250 a year plus a student loan depending on circumstances. They are paid by the government and paid back when they are in employment. They also get a £5000 bursary.

That is quite shocking for a young kid in the uk for such a needed skillset.
I would assume that the African nurses being brought in have nowhere near that level of debt that our youngsters carry.

Edit. My daughter in law is a trauma nurse and at 34, still carries this debt. They are struggling to raise a family.

Oh cool!! So they could technically put that straight into their loan.

Fraudulent NHS bursaries cost iro £54m a year.

Or half a million pensioners' winter fuel allowance.

Or one days cash to the Bra specialist.  You know the one, this one;

Leaked files appear to suggest the Conservative peer Michelle Mone and her husband, Douglas Barrowman, were secretly involved in a PPE business that was awarded more than £200m in government contracts after she referred it to the Cabinet Office
