There was quite a few self referring  patients coming in wearing facemasks. Some people are still concerned.

Have they banned Monkey Pox and changed it to MPOX Then ?

Starmer will give me 6 months Holme House for that then.

Bird flu. Mpox. Mad cow disease. Crows feet.

These knobby animals are getting above their stations........

Explain how the ambo hand over could improve without paramedics having to wait up to 2 hours therefore taking them ambos off the street?

Surely that could do with improving with all the tech available.

Also. How did "businesses" with a large employee base "cope" before computers etc?
A few in the payroll dept. 1 or 2 "gaffers" per shift.

One of the biggest issues in the NHS is that the computer systems are from the ark.

That's why there are legions of people in vans with trolley s carrying great files of paper all over the place and why they always have to ask for your name, address and DOB when you meet different staff. Have they never heard of scannable wrist bands?

I can tell you what my nephew a recent qualified nurse says about the NHS 1 it's very political 2 over run with management 3 centralised treatment doesn't work 4 even though he wasn't born when we had smaller local hospitals he reckons we should go back to them as these big hospitals don't have enough beds 5 each party causes more money to be spent on new ways of doing things

Quote from: BoroRedKen on August 18, 2024, 02:04:42 PMYou seem well informed Artie. (Wink!).

Its good to hear reasoning that even i can understand.

If im honest i suppose im basing a lot of my "opinions" under a dark cloud due to the last 18 months.
I am still really raw that Carmens heart op was successful but the infection killed her 4/5 months later. An infection she got from the operation.
But im reasonable enough to understand that if i want to debate the NHS i should do it objectively.
:bigjack

Fully understand your viewpoint Kenny, it's perfectly valid as it's your lived experience and I'm disappointed that experience has been poor for you and your beloved. You've every right to feel angry and let down. If I were in your shoes, I would feel the same and there but for the grace of god...

The problem with the NHS is the same as most large businesses. BAD MANAGEMENT.
Money has been thrown at the NHS for years but not invested wisely.
Managers on massive salaries, Diversity Managers, clipboard carriers and Image consultants.

Indeed.
On the whole management of British companies, private and public is fucking piss poor.  Only interested in money. Even the doctors are greedy cunts and the reason why GP surgeries and consequently A & E are fucked.

Are they not what big business is lately though the world over?

To bang the drum of the latest ideologies and "populist" movements?

Last Friday I went to my GP to see.if I could get a late appointment. Not a soul in the waiting room, was told no one available to see me, but was advised to attend JCUH A&E instead...went to Redcar walk in and was seen in a hour or so....

As an NHS manager myself, I (we) get some bad press and apparently I don't do anything in my role to justify my existence. I am not front line, yet I deliver important services to those front line staff. Not only do both myself and my team work bloody hard in delivering our services, but we also try and save money for tax payers when contracts come up for renewal. Plus, we all work more.hours than we are paid for.

I hope D gets the treatment she deserves and if you think there has been any failings in her treatment, then contact the PALs team who will investigate.

The NHS doesn't work because it was never designed to do what it's currently tasked with and until we can have an honest conversation about what we actually want and how we fund it, the whole shit show will only get worse.

It's also impossible to to separate the issue from migration which puts massive pressure on the NHS and other public services.

I agree re the pressure on the NHS, if all the immigrants went home it would close down. 20 pc of NHS staff are non British.

BoroRedKen

Did not say there was "mistreatment".

Example.

At 7am (this is after 12 hours in AE) we were told that she was being admitted as an in patient.

I leave, drive home and go straight to bed.

I wake up at 10.30am to a text to say D is home.
At 8am (after i was told i might as well go home at 7am) D was "released".

That is not "mistreatment" but piss poor "communication" between Drs and D.

Like the morning Carmen was picked up by patient transport for a routine appointment at 10am.
By 3pm i was worried. Not answering her phone. No texts etc.
On the phone for nearly an hour. No "trace" of her turning up for her appointment.
I get to the hospital at 8pm to look for her. At 8.30pm i found her.
In intensive care.
Something had happened in the ambulance on the way. What? I never was told.
They swore blind they had rung me numerous times. I said nope not a single call from them.

Carmen came out of coma after 2 and a bit weeks.
I was visiting her and some "senior" bod overheard me telling Carmen what had happened that day. She went on the "attack" defending the staff etc. "This does not happen" blah blah.
I was getting pissed off because she would not have it that i had recieved any phone call.
The "bod" went and got the "paperwork".
Yes several calls had been made.
To Carmens phone!.
They were ringing her number "all day" and not the next of kin, me.
That "bod" did not even apologise for trying to mug us off in a ward full of patients/visitors.

But hey Carmen died a few months after that so what does it matter now eh?.

The NHS is not the sainted thing it once was. It makes mistakes. That is understandable. I get that.
But should daft things like not contacting NOK because they did not read the "paperwork" correctly happen?.
What about if Carmen had passed that day?.

And before the bother starts im not interested in money or suing or someone to blame.
An apology would of been nice though.

I know PALS. I know the support and help they give.
But like i said im not interested in all that litigation bollocks etc.

Im a simple (fuck off!) Geezer really. Money and all that palaver aint me. And it certainly was not Carmen.
Just a simple and meant "sorry" would of been perfect.

BoroRedKen

I also understand every penny counts in the NHS.

Thats 1 reason i aint interested in "litigation".
Cant moan about no cash in the NHS then take a few quid off them because someone made an error.

No amount of money, technology or the best Drs and surgeons could give me the 1 thing i want.

No it Can't Ken

One thing that keeps being repeated over again by government departments (NHS is a government department) we will learn from it errr no you won't it will happen again but no lessons learned

Nail on head TB.

If it stopped simillar mistakes happening then that would be great in my book.

It's been a problem for every government for decades. The NHS is a religion in this country, you criticise it at your peril. It gets more than enough money but wastes it on ludicrous management structure, piss poor purchasing practices and politically correct salaries for woke projects.

Some staff are brilliant, some are absolutely useless - they're not all angels!

This is a nettle that has to be grasped but certainly won't be by this idiotic government intent on creating a communist state in the UK, and it certainly wasn't by the previous fucking clowns.

Wes Streeting has said he wants to reform and make it more efficient and cost effective. This would mean big changes for medical and surgery hours.

But again that's another one of these leftie bullshit talking points.

See also social care, housing etc

If we weren't importing 800,000 people a year (and the real number is probably double that) then we wouldn't need foreigners to work in our NHS.

As for the other lefty myth that immigration props up our economy, it's a fact that is not true.

Don't take my word for it though - look at the data for yourself.
