Citing statistics, the economist said a mere 3,000 people now boast of $14.4 trillion of wealth, which equates to 13% of the world's GDP. This compares to a far less 3% GDP share of their wealth made up in 1993, he added.

Zucman also highlighted "two striking similarities" seen among these ultra-rich. "The vast majority are men; and they typically pay much less tax, as a share of their income, than their employees and middle-class workers in general," he said.

I like people who are successful and earn bucket loads of money. But pay the same rate of tax and me and you.

I have never thought of you telling porkies. We see the same data differently, that's politics.

Like I say good luck to them, they have employed millions, changed the way live, but pay your taxes.

Except the Frenchie that states all this is a raving lefty from Berkley and the LSE, who clearly subscribes to the politics of envy, the cornerstone of all socialism

See also everything you spout....

So you agree with them paying less tax than their cleaners, ok.

Just for the record I am envious of no-one.

OK that's not true, people with grand children.

If it wasn't for people with money there'd be no jobs for cleaners or any other envious cunt.

Your politics betray your assertion

like all right wing  Tories you despise;  fairness, the NHS, paying your whack, police, The BBC, the poor, charity, the next door neighbours because their kids play out.

I am enjoying these generalisations.

Relevant in your made up world I suppose....

Nothing better to do?

Blott

No I will leave you to your hatred of the poor, the NHS, paying tax, the police, the BBC ....

So sad  I said it twice.

I can see you hiding in the bog on trains to avoid paying Darlo to Boro.

Why do you love money so much?

Oddly enough you remind me off him. The hatred, the viciousness, the look I come first and  F the rest of you.

With the financial market being global the best way to increase the tax take is to lower the tax rate.

The most frightening stat is the vast majority are men but they can lose over half of what they've earned with a single stroke of a divorce lawyers pen.

The world's richest women have either inherited their fortune from a deceased father or a divorced husband.

Blott

Read any thread on taxation.

There is no real point on taxing anyone over 40 pc. All data shows that's the top people see as fair, and I agree with them.

After 40pc people do what these blokes did, tax evasion.

It never bothered Bezos he offered far more to his wife than she accepted.

Of course a bloke should give 50pc of family wealth to their wife

Tax is income based always has been, so someone who is a billionaire doesn't pay tax on a billion every year.
You need to ask Steve Gibson how he manages his tax situation if you want a fair response. He will probably tell you reinvestment in his company, charitable donations and bailing out Boro are not taxable.
If him and the like didn't make money there would be thousands out of work right now.

er. capital gains tax. Inheritance tax

As for inheritance tax it should be 70pc over £25. 0,000. Simple. It's a tax on inflation. The people who get the cash have done nothing for it.

My brother bought his house for £125,000 20+ years ago, it's now worth £400,000 i.e. inflation of £275,000. The interest was on a loan of say £60,000 and he lived rent free.

Stop worrying about giving the kids, who will be in their 50s and 60s money
