In all fairness if people do agree with the protest and do go and be peaceful. They are likely to be shamed on social media and pictures in the Gazette for attending if stuff goes tits up. 

In this day and age that can cause you alot of hassle, fired at work, bricks through your house window etc. You should be able to turn up to a protest/demonstration for anything and not be persecuted for it, if it's above board and peaceful.

So I can understand why some might want to hide their face and still play a peaceful part

But more likely people covering faces so if there is a kick off they think they are immune to do what they like.
