Small is a weird one, that thread is pure Walter Mitty. It's the longest "end" known to all mankind.

I don't think rob was in any hurry to delete Fmttm on fans online? It took him years to move over, he practically had to be forced by the users complaining about it and even when they did move it, the site was dual ran for months on end, probably about 6 months or so? as that caused some contention from those not yet invited, so it's not like it just disappeared one day hush hush, it took forever and plenty of time for screenshot grabbing even back then & even older stuff was on catflaporama.

He hung on for grim death around certain bands that had made it in places like Japan and Canada, sold out bars and clubs all over the UK. I know. I was there.

I can remember his little face 1 night in Darlo when he was getting ignored by the band. That was probably my 1st encounter with Rob.

But i soon worked out that Rob dont do confrontation or threats or any of that "macho" bollocks.

I made a promise to a guy that i miss everyday. Nearly 30 yr ago. Yes i will confess that about 10% of the foundation of RR creation was my chance to let every Boro fan know that even though you might think the sun shines out of Robs arse but the guy will cut your throat and climb over your body in his quest for fame and money.

And he thinks he is a dyed in the wool socialist!!!.....

Yes I can't contest any of that as I've never met the bloke but I think he's always harboured a want to be in a role like the media, probably why he loves getting invited to the pressers etc and asks mundane questions there.

That's my take on it anyways. Lot of weird stuff over there but weirdly boring. Because they are boring, but can't see them ever being criminal masterminds.

Another problem they have over there is as much as they want it to be peaceful, they let arguments drag on because they only have rob and small, and they're hardly ever actually doing the "job" on the forum, so something breaks out and quickly 2 sides are formed and then they have it out over 10 pages.

But then that leaks into the next thread, and the one after that. There is this view that they are ultramoderated and you can't say anything but I think they only really step in when they decide someone has said something really bad or one of them has a power trip. Everything else is allowed to go unchecked, not sure which is worse really as a lot of them can dish it out but not take it.

Trouble is this drives people away - both the people involved because they get banned or put on the naughty step. Which they denied existed but now admit it does, or they flounce because of the arguments / punishment or people don't like the place it has become.

The place is full of old blokes. Nowt wrong with that of course, but they don't replenish. Most the "new users" are old users what got banned or people on a windup. There was a time when people started going to oneboro but that stopped because it's dead there except transfer time and the news there gets reposted elsewhere anyway now so little point. And you definitely can't say shit there because there are 7000 moderators so the other end of the scale.


But now the challenge that people who used to post on Come on Boro, One Boro or FMTTM are now coming here, and that's going to be difficult for him to see off. Upgrading his forum helped last time, but that's done now and let's be honest - that only brought him out of the 90s.

Ultimately it's the culture of the place, people are getting sick of stupid shit like not being able to log in because you said something about small or the Tories, or they woke up to 400 sad faces off Vincent.

In my opinion the best thing this place can do is ignore Fmttm. They wouldn't be able to handle that. You've been honest about some of your motives there Ken but being real, that's what they thrive off. They come here because there are threads about them. They come here because they're mentioned daily. They come here because Fmttm tells them old posters are here and everyone here is obsessed with them etc

I think that all feeds the beast so to speak and as great don draper says 35 seconds into this clip;

That's the attitude this place should take, it would keep pulling people from over there. It would drive them mad as well.

I started posting on fmttm 20 years ago. Was good, like here now. No billy big bollocks really.
The change kind of happened along with the new board.
