Quote from: TerryCochranesSocks on July 16, 2024, 11:35:29 AMHe's done well enough but the talent at his disposal made it easier for him than some previous managers.
He's been far too much of an FA man, got too involved in the ridiculous wokery of BLM and all the fucking rainbow shite for my liking. This position should only be about football, nothing else.
I welcome his resignation on that basis and I hope that the next manager can bring a bit more steel to our play. Too many of our young stars are obsessed with image, PR, politics and "new man" type emotions and all that stuff that we (well at least me and my old fart mates) don't want to see in our football, club or country.

Get into 'em, fuck 'em up.

Well said Tel, that is the sentiment with most England fans. Footballers sticking to footy and leaving the other shite out of it. The pool of players we have, we should be getting more out of them.

I honestly don't think we have a pool of players to beat Spain right now.

In your opinion.

Yes.. the clue is there.
Considering our so called world class players didn't perform ie Foden, Kane, Bellingham ( only in patches) and Rice GS did remarkably well.
Looking forward to seeing all the GS knockers proven right when we win everything with our world class players.

Bellingham is world class.. maybe Foden..

No he's not Newy, I was reading prior to the euros that he would be the stand out perforner in the tournament, he wasn't even the stand out performer in the England team

You have to earn the right to be more than an average international footballer & that is what I have seen in the games I've seen him play, average at best, mind if showing aggression when kicking the medical box hes up there

Not for me

I think we saw some flashes of brilliance from both him and Foden.

Saka looked good and Palmer was very promising. Mainoo looked the part.

I must have dipped my buscuit in my tea at that precise moment then Newy, ☕😥

Best manager since Ramsey..

I honestly don't think we've got the best ever crop of players this country has ever produced.
This is the third group of players since 1996 to be hailed as world beaters, and on it goes..

UEFA Quarter Finals in 2004 & 2012

World Cup Quarter Finals 2002, 2006 & 2022

That sounds about right top 10 in the world, top 5 in Europe?
No winners just nearly men. It's not a rash prediction to say we won't win the next euro or World Cup even with the latest golden boys and your manager of choice, it's just who we are.

We need an extraordinary crop of players.. which we don't have.

Southgate did well with what we have.

We'll be lucky to make the QF at the World Cup.. we need another bumper crop of players.

Hang on, let's see who is appointed first. IF it's Potter, another yes man who's achieved nothing, then we may as well have stuck with Southgate. In my opinion  :cloughy:
If his tactics are different then we'll know if it's the players,Not sure what you mean by yes man.I think the F.A has moved on from Bert Millichip and lord Westwood.

Hahahaha!

I know its all about opinions but the few games I seen & not only Englands, I wouldn't have put him in any other team I watched

Bellingham?

Yes, Bellington

Mind he was ok in his Lucozade ad 😉

Couple more Bellinghams and another Rooney.. we might be able to knock a really good advert out in two years time!

Fucking he'll this is long as fuck

It really is

Thanks for the acknowledgment

A yes man is exactly what Southgate was. An FA good boy, pushing lefty narratives, taking the knee, promoting every flag colour other than the national one. The FA hasn't changed since the cloughie days, an institution full of stuffy old lefty doyles. In my opinion.  :alf:

How was he a yes man though??? It's just one of those tired old cliches that doesn't actually mean anything, but people still like to wheel out from time to time.

Is Carrick a yes man?

You're asking a question to which I've already given an answer. Read my post again.

As for Carrick, what has he got to do with Southgate and the FA  :charles:

He's asking if Carrick got the England job would you consider him a yes man, or do you think he's gibbos yes man now.?

Ayton Mews

Well is he?? What is the criteria for being a "yes man" ?

Southgate is intelligent and articulate, and just an all round sound, level-headed bloke. I actually see a lot of similarities with him and Carrick.

Except Carrick is better, obviously

That's not what he asked.

Again, what has that got to do with the here and now, throwing Carrick's name is just a random, with zero substance. Potter, he's being seriously touted, and he is in the same mould as Southgate as far as I'm concerned. You want to ask me if Ten Hag is an FA yes as well, he's as probable as MC getting the current England managers job?
