He's done well enough but the talent at his disposal made it easier for him than some previous managers.
He's been far too much of an FA man, got too involved in the ridiculous wokery of BLM and all the fucking rainbow shite for my liking. This position should only be about football, nothing else.
I welcome his resignation on that basis and I hope that the next manager can bring a bit more steel to our play. Too many of our young stars are obsessed with image, PR, politics and "new man" type emotions and all that stuff that we (well at least me and my old fart mates) don't want to see in our football, club or country.

Get into 'em, fuck 'em up.

He dragged English football back to a better level.

Good luck to him in whatever he decides next.

Your mind works in a weird and wonderful way.

Just have the decency to say he did a good job..........remember he took over England after we'd been knocked out by Iceland at Euro 2016 iirc. He has mended a dysfunctional national team that was full of cliques and some players that would have dropped England if it didn't harm their public image.

he then has taken us to two major finals and a semi final, albeit I think we should have won at least one of those but I remember seeing us not qualify, humiliation by not getting out of group stages so I for one will salute Southgate, say thamks for what you've done and good luck in your next venture, whatever that may be.

Well said Tel, that is the sentiment with most England fans. Footballers sticking to footy and leaving the other shite out of it. The pool of players we have, we should be getting more out of them.

I honestly don't think we have a pool of players to beat Spain right now.

Considering our so called world class players didn't perform ie Foden, Kane, Bellingham ( only in patches) and Rice GS did remarkably well.
Looking forward to seeing all the GS knockers proven right when we win everything with our world class players.

I honestly don't think we've got the best ever crop of players this country has ever produced.

I'm a big fan of Gareth but it's definitely time for a change and a bit of a clear out

This is the third group of players since 1996 to be hailed as world beaters, and on it goes..

No he's not Newy, I was reading prior to the euros that he would be the stand out perforner in the tournament, he wasn't even the stand out performer in the England team

You have to earn the right to be more than an average international footballer & that is what I have seen in the games I've seen him play, average at best, mind if showing aggression when kicking the medical box hes up there

Not for me

I think we saw some flashes of brilliance from both him and Foden.

Saka looked good and Palmer was very promising. Mainoo looked the part.
