Is he supposed to stay in the UK just in case something like this happens ?

Remember Labour will have to sort the mess out that the Tories have left so not sure how anyone can start criticising them a week into their tenure.

BoroRedKen

So how long before its Labours problem? 2 years? 3? Removed a supposed deterrent with NOTHING in its place.

The interviews for the head of the new border security force are still ongoing.

Is this going to be the mantra for the next 5 years? "Cleaning up the mess left behind"?

As soon as they make any move to indicate that they are not trying to prevent them crossing.

Absolutely not.

Look push me and I'll say I'm a Labour man but does it fill me with great hope and promise that they are finally back in charge, not really is the answer.

In my opinion what this country needs right now is a slightly off centre government - boring but functional - and I do believethat Sunaks real political values were/are just right of centre, however he had an absolute car crash of a party behind him with numerous factions and he ended up pushing through policies like the Rwanda one justto try and look like he was doing something. In the end he failed because of what went before him.

The country has major issues with the NHS, education, Prison Service to name a few and I agree that controlled immigration should be one of the main targets, however I think as decent democratic human beings we need to give any new government time to make a difference.........and thats not just one week.

As I said the other day, and I'm guessing you won't like me saying this but you would rather I was honest, the way some have jumped all over Labour in the last week is akin to some of the over the top vitriol aimed at the Tories OTR.

I just want what is best for this great country and at this moment in time the only party I can see that will do something constructive are Labour.

BoroRedKen

I take your points TDF. We can  agree the country is in a state.

I do not detract from Tory governance but it seems a few "VS" chances have been taken in the 1st week.

The junior Drs. Nobody saw that coming did they? All of a sudden its "progressive" but no mention of offers!

"Smashing the gangs". Read tonights EG. Its on our doorstep. I feel as though im not "allowed" any opinion now im convicted.

Reading that and finding out that it was men from Kurdistan they ferried in and im the convict after what happened to my young un?.

You must agree that with no deterrent in place at all that it is now Labours responsibility?

TDF, I'm sure people have jumped on labour as more of a tongue in cheek rather than expectation that they are to have carried out any real changes in such a short space of time, (except the Rwanda cancellation of course) that was cancelled the next day.
The way I see it, many people on here realise the country's in the shit with mounting population and reducing services, would we be in a better position had Labour been in charge for the last 3 terms?
I doubt it.

That's personal opinion though.

my opinion is that the Tories performance over their 14 years in football terms has taken us from mid-table Premier League to being Hartlepool.

And Labour would have us in the champions league im guessing?

It's always tragic when children are caught up in this. But my sympathy tank towards others leaving a safe country, that head to ours, to lower our quality of life is now on empty. Labour/Tory parties don't give a shiny fuck about these people and even less about us. It's all about control and cheap labour, making those at the top millions, while most have to suffer what's dropped on their doorstep. The moment I can fuck off, I'm gone from here.

Everybody knows that all it would take to stop the boats would be for France to accept returns, it would stop immediately.

UK, France, the EU, the international community all know it. Nobody really wants to save those lives because cheap labour, Identity Politics, political popularity/ideology and riddance of an expensive problem are more important than lives.

Every time you see a talking head telling us it's 'a tragedy', 'truly awful' or 'heartbreaking', they're lying.
