Isn't karma a cunt?

I thought it was a penalty anyway, and that Gary Neville was talking bollocks at half time

That's football, referees don't always get it right,
Like they didn't when they failed to send Koeman off,
Karma took its time. 🤣

I can see the penalty both ways - I'm still surprised he gave it though.

What a weird tournament this has been for England - mostly dull uninspired play, odd team selections with square pegs in round holes, large slices of luck, some fantastic individual goals, composed penalty shootout and first major final outside of England.

The first half last night gave a good taste of what the team can do with the handbrake off and players in more natural positions (hope Shaw can play from the start though).
- Foden finally came alive - was unlucky not to score.
- Mainoo was excellent.
- Kane looks gassed/past it to me (maybe injured). Southgate has shown some balls subbing him (vs say Portugal with Ronaldo)- wish he would do it sooner though.  Tough to drop him outright but would tell him to give it everything for 60 minutes.  I think Toney adds a lot but can't argue with what Watkins did last night - either way they are much more mobile and will help this team.
- Walker had an iffy game - hopefully he come back strong.
- I really like Palmer and hope he gets some decent time in the final.

The biggest worry is I can feel hope creeping in - that is never good where England are concerned - heh.

Patient, methodical, calm, assured..

it's not England as we've known it! we've been a total nightmare before Southgate.. at best.. radgie pissed up bottle jobs.

a team that can work together, a manager with a plan.. this is what success looks like! we haven't seen it before!

In my lifetime
Bobby Robson 1990 World Cup Semi
Terry Venables 1996 Euro Semi
Gareth Southgate 2018 Workd Cup Semi, 2020 Euro Final, 2024 Euro Final

Bellingham, Kane, Foden & Saka
already are up there with..
Robson, Lineker, Gazza & Platt

crazy to think that the likes of Owen, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard & Beckham just didn't reach these levels.. not one of them.

No penalty for me. If that had been given against England you'd be going fucking mental!!

Studs out, head turned away.. reckless.

He couldn't do anything else I don't think and perhaps a few years ago it would have been applauded as a quality robust challenge.

If the shoe was on the other foot.. I might have said the game's gone soft.

That sort of challenge if it gets anywhere near a players knee.. you could be looking at a career finisher.

Some decisions go for, some against.. the beauty of the game. GET IN!!

We still win it without the penna.. Southgate press flow like water.. strong kung fu!

TerryCochranesSocks

No.
Defender attempting to block a strike on goal that was off the ground. Kane followed through and kicked his foot.
No foul.
Are defenders now meant to not block shots?

TMG501

Ive seen it happen loads of times in games. Player tries to clear the ball, opponent tries to block it, the player clearing the ball kicks opponents foot, freekick to player clearing the ball. Penalty all day IMHO.

You might have been half right were it not for the raised leg and the exposed studs travelling at reckless speed not looking

Well maybe quarter right

TerryCochranesSocks

Raised leg. Yes, blocking a shot
Reckless speed! Bollocks, he put his foot in the way of the shot.

Keith Hackett - "Well we will accept the penalty. However the referee's initial judgment was sound. No foul both players going for the ball."

Mark Halsey - "Harry Kane was gifted a penalty by controversial referee Felix Zwayer. If England had been on the receiving end of that decision, we would have been absolutely fuming."

Look, I'm happy we won but that doesn't mean I have to agree with what was another bad VAR intervention. The match referee got it right to start with.

Do you think it would have been given as a free kick if it was outside the box?

Well the match referee didn't think so after he'd seen it properly
