Celtic hold talks with Middlesbrough's England U18 striker https://www.67hailhail.com/transfers/celtic-hold-talks-with-middlesbroughs-england-u18-striker/

Me personally, I think he should stay at the club, at 17 involved in matchday squads & making the bench then to be given your debut at such a young age speaks volunes for the club

He could go to a bigger club loaned out & get lost amongst all the young loanees up & down the country

Serve your apprentice at the Boro, enjoy a couple of seasons experience in the championship/PL & if you still need to spread your wings then go for it, you'll have built up a nice CV

All pure speculation, and there could be any number of scenarios playing out with this young lad. IF he is the real deal, then surely the club would have tied him down with a new contract and a view to playing more first team football. Facts are, unless he is something extra special, then he will continue to play at the age level he's at. Time will tell on that if he stays. He could be wanting away, having his head turned with money and the lure of the supposed bigger club. Celtic have a larger fan base and traditionally more successful history, though on todays footballing terms, are they a step up from Boro? Sure they can have a few games in Europe every season, but we all know how it pans out for them, the moment they play a half decent side. Boro in the prem are by far a bigger club financially, than celtic ever will be, now FFP is across the board in Europe. If the lad thinks he's too big for Boro, then he leaves and good luck to him.

Like you Erimus I think Matthew's should stay because I think under Carrick he will get some game time.If the secret scout that I follow on twitter is right it looks as though there a few clubs looking at him, including Celtic,Rangers ,Newcastle and Southampton.Lets hope he stays and fights for a place in the team here .UTMB!!!

Trouble is we are making these decisions based on our "experience" ! ( or old age 😂)

Put yourself in his position , young lad, believes he is a star in the making and given the chance to join a "big" club probably on a lot more money , at 17 what would you of done ??

Anyhow hopefully the lad stays 👍👍

Look at young Kav not long ago, a lot of noise he was going to be a first team regular and now at Bradford. If you are going to break into Boro's first team, a team that is considered promotion contenders, then you have to be exceptional at such a young age. IF he left for a supposed bigger club, then it is purely financial as I see it. Time will tell.

Young players with lots of agent talk and transfer talk.. outside of the big four.. they generally go downhill

Time for a new agent?

Ajay Matthews's dad was once on Leeds United's books and now is a football agent.  I've heard a few stories about him, some good and some bad.
