Someone mentioned that he's done better than the previous golden era, with Beckham, Gerrard n co. That was a good bunch of players no doubt, but when you look at the other teams around that same time, they were of a much higher caliber than what they are now. On paper, France is the only team I would say is marginally better than we are imo.

The FA never learn, and we will never win fuck all until we get football people running the show at the top. Southgate has lost the dressing room for me, and I think Grealish, not directly, has no respect for him, and it's probably shown when they all initially met up.

To summarise, I have no doubt we will beat Slovenia to go through to the last 16, but we ain't going past the quarter's that is for sure. First ranked team we play we are out. Half of me will be pissed off but the other half will be delighted to see the back of Southgate as England Manager. The taking the knee thing was an American thing.. it was a bit like the ice bucket challenge for me. Lost its meaning when taken outside of the US.

The Nazi salutes and monkey noises from the Bulgarian fans at the 2020 qualifier would have had me taking the team off.. would that have been the 'woke' thing to do? Gareth Southgate certainly didn't bother.

Seems to be a fair bit of controversy surrounding the Dutch fans blacking up and dressing like Ruud Gullit.. a Dutch legend. Calls of racism from a fair few white football fans seemed to be gathering pace until Gullit said himself that he concidered it an honor and took in in the manner it was intended. How else can a white fan pay tribute by wanting to look like their hero?

He was a defensive midfielder turned defender. He has a defensive mindset. He simply doesn't have the tactical awareness nor gravitas to manage the squad.

We often struggle in competitions as we've really only ever had Gazza who could hang on to the ball when we were under pressure. Grealish is the closest we've had and while he does not have the same skill set he is very good at winning free kicks which would give us an out. Really don't think Gareth knows best. Gordon may well be the future but he remains untested at international level.

Southgate was apparently the big driving force behind our European victories.. McClaren seemingly more concerned with his next step.. either to Newcastle or England.

Held in high regard in the dressing room he kept us in the premier league despite a huge downturn in investment.. our foray into Europe cost us a fortune and our subsequent recruitment was massively below par.
