We've got a huge population of ex pats in Spain too.. taking over their culture with British pub, bars and cafes!

People move around.. populations change and cultures change.

America and Australia both had indigenous populations that have since been taken over.. now their countries resemble something much closer to England.

We are the crab of the world! I read somewhere that evolution will eventually turn everything into a crab.. evolutions ideal creature!

England's culture will hold out and take over no matter what. Because in part it is made up of so many different cultures in the first place.. our constitution is not written.. our language constantly evolving.. our legal system is one of the most influential in the world!

The hand outs as far as immigrants go more often than not go straight back into the local economy and serve as a cheap alternative to manning up the workforce. a 20 year old fit working man not from this country will have had no NHS or School benefits over his lifetime.

Developed countries often suffer from declining populations.. professionals often less than the 2.4 children. The aging population becomes less productive and there is a huge need for migration. We've ended the freedom of movement leaving the EU which has caused us a huge problem.. cuts to the immigration departments and processing centres with no doubt mitigate the loss somewhat.. even tho the politicians will never admit that is what they are doing.

'Hand outs' boost the economy, migration boosts the economy... cuts and privatisation make money for the bent politicians and their mates and reduce the quality of public services we receive.

The left and the right is down to public money and where it goes. The left goes to public the right goes to private. The left benefits the public, the right benefits the private. Obviously you need a healthy mix where appropriate. At the moment we have lurched too far to the private side and the public side has suffered as a result.

The ball has been dropped by successive governments failing to cater for these huge dormant workforces and the problems can get worse with each generation.

Inequality and deprecation go hand in hand with an increase in crime. Not so much solely poverty.. but the inequality.. the inability for people to simply get by in a much richer climate.

I've seen the amount of money getting poured out to huge corporations.. MPs with citizenship elsewhere.. Boris and Sunak to name just two. It pales in significance to the dodgy tabs and high neckline wet shaves!!

First of all for me it doesn't matter where anyone is going.. ya can't just go drowning people.

As for inviting people with open arms I think there was a push to get more people into the country to boost the economy and to take up jobs in much needed areas. Teesside has changed in the last 35 years and before that too.. if anything Teessides defining feature is that it is ever changing.

The nicer areas of Teesside will change along with those areas which have been deprived.

As for the plan from Labour.. it can't be any worse than the one from the Conservatives.. which has been to strip everything back, sell everything off and make as much money for themselves and their pals as they can. If anything this has been the only visable clear benefit of brexit to date.

The same problems will always crop up with a mature and developed country when it comes to the need for migration and then the resulting need for integration. Historically Teesside has been top of the shop for immigration due to its extremely quick expansion and heavy workload. No blacks no Irish did not apply to Teesside sites as the area needed a huge amount workers.

We did have at one point a huge Welsh community along with welsh festivals.. something which you will be happy to hear has long since been forgotten. People move about.. different cultures exist. Migration like anything else needs to be managed.. but drowning folks isn't the answer.
