But that does not mean im against females playing the game.

Marske Utd have folded i think. Could Thornaby be next? There is just no money in non league football.

Agree, to me, ladies football is a totally different sport, but saying that, I have told my daughter the following saturday after my grandaughter turns 4 (next march) & have told my grandad too, I will be taking her to Marton at Hall drive to kick start her football career, 👍💕

Johnny Thunder

My daughter played right up to going to college.

League winner I think three times and doubled with the North Riding County Cup twice.

BoroRedKen

A lad i went to school with, you might know him JT Fazza? His daughters play i think for Sunderland last i heard.

Mind you he was a decent baller himself. 👍

Johnny Thunder

If it's who I know, his daughter was at Boro.

Too Much Perspective

Just seen this in the Gazette but can't get my head round it. Other than the first team, doesn't everyone pay subs?
If the club's under the cosh financially, then surely you want to run as many teams as possible - boys, girls, whatever - so you've got the subs rolling in?

Johnny Thunder

Every team my kids played for involved a joining fee for the club and weekly subs to cover training pitch fees, match day fees, refs fees and anything else that cropped up.
Also covered transport costs for away games, summer tournaments etc.
Some clubs provided kits and some we had to pay for.

rutters

The Gazette are only providing one side of the story. That's not 'journalism', it's 'activism'.

Johnny Thunder

Do you have info on what actually happened rutters?

If there is another side to this story, it needs to be put out there to stop people getting battered needlessly.

Did you  meet and buck any mams. :rudi:

If there is 'another side to the story' then they still deserve every bit of criticism they've had for not explaining the decision in the first place.

I'm guessing they've sub-contracted Sunaks D-Day advisor for this one.

Yep I thought the same.  They pay for the additional costs and help cover the fixed costs of running the club, facilities etc.

The reason for the decision is not being reported locally or nationally.

That's the political activism posing as journalism and that's the issue.

It's not really political activism is it though.

More just some individuals have made a decision that affects over a 100 peoples lives, and that's not dramatic as it is obviously a big part of their lives, without actually explaining why.

Why people would turn this into a political/gender point on here or anywhere else is beyond me, it's humans not pawns.

rutters

The one-sided journalism is the political activism because feminism is a political movement.

There is still absolutely nothing stopping Thornaby women setting up their own association rather than complaining about the way men provide it for them.

Then why did Thornaby Men let Thornaby Women be aligned with them in the first place.

They've royally messed up the job with this incident and diverting it to feminism, political activism etc doesn't sit right with me.

Hound

Didn't the boys team recently get binned off too?
Maybe I'm wrong as I don't remember seeing it on the news.

rutters

Can't recall seeing anything in the Gazette or on the BBC, SKY, CH4 or ITV about a boys team being binned...wonder why🤔

TommyDickfingers

Maybe because they didn't bin the whole mens/boys side of the club in one decision ?

Yeah that's what it will be,
That's why it wasn't on any of the news channels 🤣🤣
