Just been watching a remember the 70's type show on 5 catch up. Home brew was mentioned. Did anyone make it, does anyone still make it, is it still a "thing" these days? My uncle made it for years, mainly cos he was a greedy fucker. I tried some of his one day. It was fucking disgusting 🤮.

I remember the home brew centre in Redcar up near the old bus depot. In my drinking days i dont think i ever tasted 1 that was nice.

A mate used to brew scrumpy. Now that was nice.

That was awful an all!........

Clem Fandango

I had an uncle who used to make it.  First time I got absolutely shitfaced and puked etc was when I was 14 and drank 3 pints of it.

 :rav:

Even the seasoned drinkers stopped at 6 - it was rocket fuel.

Alan's homebrew corner is still going strong. Son David is running it now with Alan's widow, Joan. Cracking little shop with all you would ever need!

I gave up home-brewing two years ago. Too much of a time commitment cleaning the bottles and bottling it. Made some cracking brews but also made a few shocking ones too.

Drinking a 5% homebrew feels a lot stronger than a 5% pint in the pub. As mentioned before, rocketfuel.

Some decent one can kits coopers! I ended up messing about with em and creating all sorts but sometimes just a one can kits with sugar was perfect.

Jet Black had one of the first home brew places in the UK (along with his ice cream vans)

Dunno whether he brewed Golden Brown though?

My dad used to make it when I was growing up.  Even as a teenager wanting drink to go to the park on a Friday night would rather do work for a quid for a 3 litre bottle of Woodpecker.
