Anyone remember in the mid 70's over a couple of summers we were linked with a certain Scottish striker from Motherwell who went under the name of Willie Pettigrew

Back end of 1975/6 season big Jack went to watch him in action, as managers did back then & closed the door on that potential move

Mind he also refused to listen when offered another young, exciting Scottish striker who was playing in Scotland round about that time. Jack was quoted for £100k for a striker so young, big Jack bulked at the price, the lad later went to Aston Villa

Tommy Smith still out, Darragh Lenihan still not back, a heavy reliance on Jonny Howson and a noticeable change when we are without Hayden Hackney. We've got some interesting options up front and a fair bit of flexibility. Supersizing our academy talent and bringing in fast technical quality surely cannot be a bad thing.

Oh, I'd like to add in the summer long pursuit of Jay Stansfield only for us to be 'pipped at the post' at the last minute by.. lets say Sheffield United

A central midfielder, a striker and a versatile forward player who is at home playing at No.10 are top of the wishlist after the early breakthrough, with left-back an area that could be addressed as well.

I mean.. I did mention Louie Sibley 22yo who is pretty versatile and can play left back.. available on a free.

But Ar'jany Martha 20yo from Ajax would also be a very interesting acquisition.. didn't want to mention him because i'd heard there was maybe an offer in for Bangura.

anyway.. very technical player as you would imagine from an Ajax player. passing percentage up there worth of a Cariick player. replacement for Coulson?
