Being serious..

Even though i enjoy techno knob twiddling dance music i enjoy "old" music just as much because its actual talent and musicians with real instruments.

Wonderful.

If you don't enjoy 60's Motown/northern soul you must be deaf.

Northern Soul is a fairly new finding for me (I remember mainly rock music from my bros).

This is pure quality.

BoroRedKen

You use to speak the truth but now ya liar.

British working class at its finest.

Could say a lot about My introduction to this song, but you had to be there.

Let's say being a "Pup" compared to you.

Just think "The summer of love"

You know, like that series we mentioned in California.

That, but in this green and pleasant land, if that makes any sense.

Won't mean much to a few here.

Cos it's not about FMTTM or boat people/politics.

That was a real "British Movement" though.

I'll digress and say the first time I heard that twas in Brixton, been to a gig at the Academy (Bit hazy now) went for a sesh round a girls house, from Redcar believe it or not.

Wall to wall vinyl in Her gaff, 1210's , spun this.

Then we all sat down, crossed legged and discussed what it's like to be working class.

*Some of that conversation might have been enhanced, for dramatic effect*

Tis funny how you always remember certain songs though isn't it?
Why must I feel like that . . . Why must I chase the 🐈

Bit before my time though that.

Understand the importance all the same

It's never as good the second time around, you've got to be there, you know, when it's happening . . .

He was always proud  that (behind Tainted Love) was voted the worse Northern Soul cover version  of all time.

Funny how Fred tried to base "His band" on him isn't it?

The key difference is Mark E Smith was a working class Lad.

Deary me

I've a similar one that sticks from a visit to the smoke in '72 to see my close to death on drugs best pal who was in a group and somehow living in a flat in South Ken.

Visited the Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street and picked up an Import copy of the Vindicator album by Arthur Lee.

Back to the flat which by now was filling up with rock n roll types and we all had a first time listen.

Funny how certain memories stick but I can be back in that flat in a flash.

Must have been the jasmine tea!

Have to dig out the album and give it a blast
