                                    Best wishes Mogga

Another game towards our unbeaten run now extended to 8 games, 3 of those draws, who would have thought that after losing so poorly at Stoke at the beginning of March we'd go all these games without tasting defeat

After going a goal up at Hull our goal lived a charmed life with Hull on the front foot we defended well throwing bodies in the way, keeper making a fine save then the game turned on its head with 2 mistakes costing us the lead & then finding ourselves behind. The second half showed a big improvement, a class breakaway goal involving Jones & Azaz drawing us level with both teams having chances to win the game, in the end a point is neither good for either team & so after a program of midweek championship fixtures it was basically, as you were. With Boro & Leeds lead the form guide table over the past 8 games

ELL continues to shine with his 13th goal & a well executed goal too, with a tight angled finish, but what a pass from my Hull MOTM Clarke

Saturday we travel to surprise package of the season Ipswich, they've basically carried on from last seasons promotion & could go straight through to the PL
Another big fixture where we will have our unbeaten run really tested & like way back in 1981, we could seriously dent their seasons ambitions

Will Hackney return for this game, or with not much to play for will Michael Carrick give him as much time possible to fully get over his injury?

1/9/1954 – Ipswich Town 6 Boro 1 - First Ipswich v Boro fixture, with the next fixture between both teams the 37th

Won - 7
Drew - 7
Lost - 22
For - 33
Against - 67

No away hat trick v Ipswich Town

Away debut/ last game v Ipswich Town

1/9/1954 - Geoff Walker made his final appearance before moving to Doncaster Rovers in December, scored our goal in a 6-1 defeat
7/9/1965 - Terry Garbett made his debut after moving from Stockton in August 1963 lost 2-1
24/8/1991 - Curtis Fleming made his debut after moving from St Patrick's Athletic this month lost 2-1

Only 2way penalties v Ipswich Town – both by the same Boro legend

16/12/1967 – John Hickton became the 43rd different penalty goalscorer when he scored our 69th away spot kick, won 2-1
27/9/1975 - John Hickton scored our 69th away spot kick, won 3-0

A number of players have represented Boro & Ipswich Town

Tony Mowbray – Played & managed both clubs
Kevin Beattie – 5 games for the Boro, scoring the last ever FAC penalty at Ayresome Park
John O'Rourke - Such was his scoring success & popularity on Teesside Boro fans would sing "Give us a goal, John O'Rourke" to the tune of The Troggs song. An £18,500 signing from Luton Town, he scored two on his Boro debut at Colchester going on to score 27 in 39 games as Boro clinched promotion from Division Three at the first attempt, included a hat-trick in the crucial last match of the season, a 4–1 victory over Oxford United. The following season, 1967–68, he scored two further hat-tricks before moving to Ipswich Town in February 1968 for £30,000
Mark Brennan – Boro paid £400k for Brennan in the summer of 1988
Grant Leadbitter – Class signing by Mogga
Trevor Putney – Signed by Bruce Rioch, when Lennie Lawrence arrived as our manager Putney went to Watford in a swap deal with Willie Falconer coming to the Boro
John Wark – Signed by Colin Todd, noted for his midfield goals but sadly only 2 goals for the Boro & was transferred after 12 months of his 2-year contract
Phil Whelan - In March 1995 he signed for the Boro for £300k but due to the mix up with the papers he wasn't allowed to play till the following season £300. After 28 games for the Boro he left in May 1997, signing for Oxford United for £170,000
Mick McNeil – In 1958 he made his Boro debut aged 18, following 193 appearances, scoring 3 goals in all competitions in 1964, unpopular with Boro fans McNeil was sold to Ipswich Town in 1964 greeted with derision by the fans, having seen a few other young, good players sold
Alun Armstrong - In February 1998 he joined Boro for £1.6m, stayed until 2000, when in December 2000 he joined Ipswich Town for £500k. In the three years he was at Ipswich he scored 19 goals in 94 appearances, including a header in Ipswich's 1–0 win over  Inter Mila in the 2001–02 UEFA cup
Mustapha Carayol – Signed for Boro from Bristol Rovers in 2012, stayed 4 season playing 50 game scoring 11 goals after leaving Boro in 2016 he eventually signed for Ipswich in 2018 in a short-term contract
Frazer Richardson – Signed for Boro in 2013, playing 11 games, zero goals, in 2014 Boro loaned him to Ipswich where he played 7 games again zero goals
Sam Morsy – Signed for Boro in 2020 from Wigan, he played 31 games, scoring the one goal, within 12 months he left to sign for his present club Ipswich
Matty Bates - 104 games for the Boro between 2004 /2012 scoring 6 goals, between that spell in 2006 he was loaned out to Ipswich were he played just 2 games
Kieran Dyer - 31 January 2013, Dyer signed a "short-term" contract with Boro making his debut came on 2 February away at one of his previous clubs, Ipswich Town, Boro lost 4–0. He scored his first Boro goal on 2nd March in a 2–1 home win over league leaders Cardiff City. On 16 April, in a 1–0 home win over Nottm Forest he lasted the 90 minutes for the first time since way back in 2010. At the end of his contract, Dyer was not offered an extension & he left the club
Marcus Bent - 41st loaned player - Loaned from Birmingham City - Strachan's 1st loan signing - 19th at the Riverside

As a 15 year old Bobby Robson was on the books of the Boro as a schoolboy & offered a contract terms, unfortunately Fulham offered him a contract he couldn't turn down so he was off to Fulham to start his successful football career

Last comment on one of our biggest legends Tony Mowbray - Mogga played & managed both Boro & Ipswich (caretaker) during his time on Teesside scoring 28 goals for the mighty Boro, his final Boro goal in a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town March 1991

Big bogey team for us

Agree on that, though they are, or were tunstall, our last 3 visits there have resulted in two wins & a draw

Remember Boro going to Ipswich January 1975 with both teams joint top of the 1st division, our first season back in the top flight & eecwernt just making up the numbets but seriously challenging the big clubs
Unfortunately we lost 2-0 but what a season that was, could & should have been, much, much better

No probs, Erimus. Very rare you miss anyone! He stuck out because I was very much a fan of Rhodes and to me was underestimated by some of our fan base. Who will forget Bolton away?!!

New Division

Jordan Rhodes could possibly be the most 'Marmite' Boro player of all time.
I thought he was terrible

I have the same taste of Marmite as you.

I think he scored a couple of really important goals for us when we really needed them.

But on the whole, he was poor.

Westlane_rightwinger

Draw for me. 2-2

We were far from our best midweek but we are on a decent run. They are on their worst run of the season as are the rest of the top 4 bottle jobs.

erimus74

Leicester lost tonight, I'd imagine their fans will bevbuzzing leading upto KO & with Leicester having a game in hand after our game Ipswich will need to win tomorrow, the pressure is all on them

Boro win 👍
