                                Best wishes Mogga

Our unbeaten run continues as we climb up another place to 8th, but still 6 points between us & 6th placed Norwich City after their impressive win over local rivals Ipswich Town

With 5 games remaining the playoffs are still achievable though it's going to take a big twist for both Norwich & Coventry to drop enough points & us win enough games to squeeze in to that final spot
We can look at our poor start to the season as a reason for not been in the playoff pack, or our poor results against the bottom half teams, our injury record, even our poor home form, but the bottom line is, we've just not been good enough

What is impressive though, following yesterday's win, which wasn't the best advert for football, it was our 7th game on the bounce we've remained unbeaten, winning 5 & drawing 2, with only 2 goals conceded in those games
With players continue to return to fitness with VDB, Hackney, Engel on the bench v Swansea & most likely in the reckoning for the Hull fixture, so hopefully we can continue our good form & looking to build on next season

For me, going in to next season Fry, McGree, Forss can't be relied on as first team regulars, good players that they are but missing chunks of the season through niggling injuries isn't ideal for us with such a small squad, yet when you think those 3 players mentioned would be regular first team members &  hardly featured during our unbeaten run, which has proved one thing, that our settled team is good enough for the majority of teams in the Championship, bringing in the right caliber of players in the summer will, IMHO, push us in to the top 6 bracket for next season

Swansea were awful, for me they were worse than Sheff Weds the week before, whether they just couldn't be bothered is another matter, but mid table & below are the teams we've struggled to overcome this season, with us taking only a single point off both Plymouth & Rotherham & zero off Stoke is a classic example

With 3 tough games on the trot starting at Hull on Wednesday, followed by two big games we still have a say in who goes up automatically with a visit to Ipswich Town then our next home game v Leeds United, win those games & typical Boro most likely still miss out on a playoff spot, but we've kept the season alive, if only hey

A few questions going into the final 5 games / summer
1)   Offer Ayling a 12 month/18-month contract
2)   Offer Greenwood a 3-year contract
3)   Replace Fry/McGree/Forss - Not they're not good enough, they are, but not reliable at all, backups only, IMHO
4)   Michael Carrick offered 3-year deal
5)   Do we all love Steve Gibson, only kidding, I know we all do

Away hat tricks & 4 goals in games v Hull City

22nd March 1969 - John Hickton scored 4 goals in a 5-3 win at Boothberry Crescent to become the 13th different Boro player to score 4 & 27th overall

24 April 2011 - Scott McDonald scored our 39th away hattrick when scoring 3 in a 4-2 win at Hull, becoming the 56 different HT scorer & our 138th HT overall

Some players who played for both team

John Hickton - A Boro iconic legend, scored one goal for Hull
Wilf Mannion - Having finished his excellent Boro career & initially retiring as a player in 1954, Wilf Mannion subsequently joined Hull. However, the Football League suspended him for articles he had written
George Boateng – Excellent Boro player signed for Hull after the Boro
Dean Windass – He said the move to Boro was the highlight of his career, but his debut was delayed due to a back injury he picked up lifting a bag out of the car, had 3 spells at Hull
Dani Ayala – His first loan spell from Liverpool was at Hull
Ryan Giles - Crossing machine, performed really well for the Boro  & if we had the money available would he be a Boro player now or was Carrick not in favour of his defending, in & out at Luton & now Hull
Nick Barmby – Became our record signing in a £5.25 million deal in June 1995, his final club was his home town club Hull
Ray Parlour – Played for us between 2004/07 signed for Hull after the Boro
Andy Payton - He signed for the Boro for £700,000 in November 1991, which remained Hull's record sale for 15 years
Danny Graham - 63rd loaned player - Loaned from Sunderland - Returned 2nd spell - 41st at the Riverside
Brad Guzan – Played 16 games on loan from Aston Villa to Hull in 2011, signed for the Boro from Villa in 2016 playing 10 games
Cyrus Christie – Signed for the Boro in 2017, played 26 games scoring one goal & the following January was shipped out to Fulham, not playing for Hull City
Pat Heard - 4th loaned player - Loaned from Newcastle, signed for the Boro & after one season was released & signed for Hull
Celeb Folan - 40th loaned player - Loaned from Hull City, one sub appearance - 18th at the Riverside, played one game a 5-0 home defeat to West Brom
Gaston Ramirez – From saint to sinner, great player for us & made the big difference when Aitor brought him in ended his Boro career on a sour note so bottom of the pile for me

Great write up again Erimus I'm not getting my hopes up because when we do the Boro get beaten I'll stick with a draw even though I would like us to continue our form

Cheers teamboro, be nice to keep our good run going

Blott

Great stuff Erimus, putting the opposition to shane again.

As I ever have us to lose so it's a 1-2 for me.

Westlane_rightwinger

Thanks Erimus.

Tough gigg this one. Car valeter and Phil O'Jean are back and on form for them.

Would happily take a draw.

Our last visit to their place seen us come away with all the points, no pressure game, if we lose we're out of the running, if we win & others above us do also, then, we're out the running

In With the Lurpak

This lad Latte Lath seems to be firing up , bit late in the season like so I'm going for another Boro win with him on the scoresheet again

Cracking post Erimus. Your knowledge is endless.

1) 12 months.
2) I'm really undecided on Greenwood. Works his nuts off one game, then has a stinker.
I thing I'd take a punt on him if the costs involved are not too great.
3) Sell Mcgree. Doesn't want to be here, will not sign a new contract and is a sicknote.
4) Absolutely. A really promising manager.
5) Love Sir Steve me like.

I agree, as Ive mentioned a few times & I could be naive here but Gibbo cant ask Carrick to commit while hoping Hackney stays another 12 months as well as VDB remains happy here if he gives the recruitment team peanuts in the sumner

They've stuttered of late, after they beat us, which we contributed to our own downfall in that game, they won a few games but have slipped up recently, I can see us winning, hopefully other two slip up & give us hope going into the last 4 games

John Trebor

1-0 Boro.
Latte Lath with a David Nugent-esque stoppage time header. (Or maybe Sonny Finch).

1)   Yes
2)   2 yrs if he's cheap enough.
3)   Fry - sell.
     Forss - keep.
McGree - sell if he won't sign
     an extension.
4)   Yes
5)   Depends how he votes in the
     General Election 😉

TerryCochranesSocks

1)   Offer Ayling a 12 month/18-month contract  - 12 months on wages no higher than Smith
2)   Offer Greenwood a 3-year contract - Not for me, I'd hope we can find better
3)   Replace Fry/McGree/Forss - Sell McGree, he has that "spoilt kid" vibe, Dael and Forrs are ok support players
4)   Michael Carrick offered 3-year deal - 100%
5)   Do we all love Steve Gibson, only kidding, I know we all do - 100%

Ural Quntz

3) Sell Mcgree. Doesn't want to be here, will not sign a new contract and is a sicknote

More inside info than Westy
