How many jobs will be lost by 2030 by the closure of petrol stations? Asda had to let quite a few people go when they made their stations self service.

I personally know 2 people who have switched back to petrol.

Its when you listen to fanatics. Everything negative about EV's are tropes and lies. People like the 1's i know are made up.

Problem with Cleasby is he can't and won't admit he's wrong about anything. He's nailed his colours to the mast. He was desperate to be an early adopter and has become evangelical about EVs now with the way he claims his opinions to be certainties. Like range anxiety isn't a thing, it can't be because he has said so and any legitimate debate about it backed up with lived experience is dismissed. He has spoken and thus it shall be

The most un-self aware, misguided, narcissistic clown you'll find on that board or anywhere else. He's an embarrassment, constantly striving to be seen as having 'made it' when the reality is that he really hasn't and nor is he likely to, except in his own head

I drive a self-charging hybrid if anyone gives a fuck

They make you laugh, they bang on about been fooled to vote against Labour, you were lied over Brexit, gullible etc, yet bang on about EV's, you couldn't make it up  :unbelievable:

Francks left peg

I wonder what will happen long term? Will the governments and manufacturers still go on creating electric cars and forcing these upon us, even though it looks like people have no appetite for them, or will they go back to petrol/hydrogen alternatives?

If you look at the likes of Porsche now, all there new ranges such as the macan are electric only.

Blott

I had one for about 9 months my wife hated it.

You don't keep fuel based cars just to keep petrol stations just to employ people they have to have a purpose, the staff will find other jobs, we are short of Labour.

As for Small Town he had an apprenticeship in stupidity. He joined a message board and changed his politics, sad sad sad.

probably the most accurate, factual message I have ever read on EVs.

Wouldn't have an electric car if you gave me one. I can do 600 miles on a tank of diesel without worrying about filling up.
Cleasby is a knob who refuses to admit range anxiety on EC.
When they are weighing up economy of EC verses ICE they also conveniently forget an EC costs £10000+  above it's equivalent ICE.

Not for me. Example, my sister has one, and when she went to the lakes the charge point she went to was out of order, and they were waiting for it to be fixed, as there was fuck all else in range. She had to sit there for hours as she was already in a queue. Never again will she take it on any sort of distance run. Hybrids I would go for when they are reasonably priced.

I can easily get to the Lakes and back in mine without charging....

Hybrids? So you can go 40 miles on electric? Pointless

That's not how my hybrid works, unless I stick my toe down it stays electric, especially at lower speeds, but if I stick cruise control at 72mph it will stay electric on the motorway and the ICE engine only kicks in if it needs to maintain that speed, on an incline for example. Sometimes it's electric only, sometimes ICE only, sometimes both. All depends on the power reserves in the battery which is charged when braking, or you can put it in a different drive 'gear' and it will harvest power for the battery at a quicker/higher rate.

My commute is about 75% electric only, both power sources when pulling away. In theory, if I pulled away very gently and continued to drive very lightly on the throttle and braked a fair bit, it could run indefinitely on electric only

I'll be needing a new motor but don't wanna bite the eleccy bullet until my kids are a bit older. I would be able to charge for free in barracks though. The Tesla MModel y looks half decent on pcp not sure on buying one outright and just swap it every 3-4 year
