Again, we'll start off with another best wishes to Tony Mowbray

3rd month of 2024 & we're still searching for our first home league win of this year, hard to believe with the horrendous run we're having at the Riverside that our only home win this year was against Chelsea, a team who we've failed to beat on Teesside for 20 years & to win without conceding, unreal

Our last home performance against Plymouth was shocking, our last fixture away to Stoke was worse, we are slowly dropping towards the trapdoor, among the relegation fighters, yet when the turn of the year & into January our thoughts were looking to sneak into the playoffs

Wednesday's game couldn't be more opposite to the last fixture between us & Norwich played at The Riverside last season, back then, we were scoring for fun, almost guaranteed our playoff spot when thumping them 5-1 & we still had a month or so to go before the season ended, on Wednesday we are struggling badly, playing awful, boring football, unable to keep a cleansheet & going backwards

I know Michael Carrick has only been in the hot seat just over 14 months & learning but he has to start showing he has more to his game than the football his team are serving up, every team that comes to the Riverside press us so high we cant seem to get past the halfway line with the opposing team having opportunities to score, he has to change the way we play, he has to learn that making subs can change our playing style, stop just replacing players like for like hoping they'll improve us, they don't, that's not so much the issue, it's our overall playing system that's the problem

There's talk of Michael Carrick been offered an extension to his contract, I really want him to stay & have voiced my support of him on here many times, I'm just fed up with replacing managers at our club every 18 months/2 years, we need to build something here, hopefully talks are put on hold till the summer, we improve on the pitch, Carrick is learning, we start to climb back up the table & look forward to a summer of high-profile incoming transfers
Part of me thinks the reason we didn't spend any money during January was to give the manager the money to bring in players during the summer, players who he thinks will take us forward next season, whether that's Carrick time will tell

Maybe pie in the sky but we have to cling onto something

I can see our lowest attendance of the season & if things go badly the crowd will turn

Excellent read again Erimus we need to get out of this rut we are in and dig out results instead of playing patient football from the back and stop passing back to either the keeper or defence

Excellent as usual, Erimus. Your vast collection of material would be almost impossible to match.

I wish I could summon up some enthusiasm for the game tomorrow. Find it very dispiriting Carrick vows to continue with more of the same - especially as we have the knowledge it simply isn't working and a change in formation and tactics is way overdue.

0-2 for me.

Cant really disagree with you, i'll be walking to the ground expecting another boring performance with Thomes & Ayling awful, Ayling started off so well & sort of fell away, maybe a confidence thing, Greenwood, if started, wil just run around clattering in to opposing players, giving away needless free kicks
Hopefully im wrong & we put in a perform under the lights & fecord our first league win of 2024

Nosmo-King

I really hope whatever team is chosen they turn up and give it a real go - recent games don't give you confidence though!

The club need to come out and tell the fans they are backing MC for next season, and not just verbally but on the pitch also.  Five to six top end chumps players on top of what we have now, and the shit we have on loan never to return. Carrick needs to learn that he can't get players to play his tippy tappy out from the back with what he has. It isn't that hard to kick a ball over oncoming players when we are being high pressed ffs.

I'm going 0-0, nobody happy with the result.

I hope he plays Greenwood and Balaser

Swansea away to Watford are the only team who can overtake us over these two midweek set of matches, but worryingly bottom half clubs can get closer to our 44 pounts, a win tomorrow night is a must

tunstall

Absolutely

The entire club and everyone connected with it needs a boost, and that can only come from the pitch

erimus74

Hill beating Birmingham 1-0 which puts them 4 points clear of 7th placed Norwich, meaning Norwich will be going flat out for the win tomorrow night, especially knowing the form we're presently in

teamboro

I have a feeling it could be another Leicester type game I will stick with my original prediction but knowing the Boro they will probably suprise us as usual hopefully sticking plaster on a crap season
