The Soviet Republic broke up, the satellite states took their opportunity to leave. Many of those countries decided they would feel safer within NATO, it was their choice, others such as Belarus decided to stay as a dictatorship.

Some would say since Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev it was inevitable, I read that in the Dandy.


The reality is the Ukraine was an independent country, Russia did not want that. If the people of that country prefer NATO why is that wrong.
