Out of the cup & temporarily out of the playoff spots, we desperately need a pickup performance to recharge our batteries, get the feel-good factor back at the Riverside & get the season back on track & what better time to start our run towards a playoff spot than beating the mackems
These are always big games & over my time following the mighty Boro we have had the most success, let's hope Sunday is no different as we hopefully record a double over our self-appointed massive neighbours

With the departure of Rogers our thin squad is looking thinner & with us still struggling on the injury front, making the timing of his departure worse, though players are slowly starting to return & with the 2 players soon to be coming back from the Asian Cup things will take a massive turn for the better, we need to keep in touch if we are to keep pace with the top 6 & give it a good go when everyone is available & a late run to cement our place in the top 6

If selected we could see a debutee in Luke Thomas, with Luke Ayling whose performed excellent since coming in from Leeds on loan, our 114th & 115th loanees we could see VDB play in his rightful role alongside Fry, or Clarke, that in itself will take care of the area of the field. Finn Azaz has now had a few weeks to get to know his new teammates, hopefully he'll show why Carrick chased after his performance against us earlier in the season

No Jones, Late, McGree, Silvera, Coburn struggling, we really are lightweight up front & unless we share the goals between the team we wont be worrying opposing teams defenses

A number of players who played for both team

Brian Clough - For Boro - 1955 - 61, 213 games scored 197 goals, for Sunderland - 1961 - 64, 61 games, scored 54 goals.
Stan Anderson - Captained all 3 north east teams, Boro, Newcastle & Sunderland, Boro were almost doomed when he took over but with his signings, he made 66-67 a season to remember, for all the right reasons.
Alf Common - In February 1905, he broke the transfer record again by moving to Middlesbrough for £1,000, becoming the World's first £1000 Footballer. The Boro had purchased Common in an attempt to avoid relegation to the Second Division. His first game for Middlesbrough was on 25 February 1905, away to his former club Sheffield United. Boro won 1–0, with Common scoring from a penalty after 50 minutes, it was their first away win for nearly two years. Consequently, the team, who had so far been battling against relegation that season, survived the drop. He played 168 league games for Boro and scored 58 goals.
Dave Hodgson - Played for the Boro between 1978 -1982 - 125 games, scoring 16 goals then returning to the Boro in 1987 on loan for 2 games, it should have been more but Hodgy was sent off in his 2nd game at AP & never played again. In between he played for Sunderland between 1984 - 86 - 40 games & scored 5 goals.
Mark Proctor - Played for the Boro between 1978 -1981 - 109 games, scoring 12 goals then returning to the Boro in 1989 -1993 - 120 games, 6 goals. In between he played for Sunderland between 1983 - 87 - 117 games & scored 20 goals.
Stan Cummins - He played for Boro between 1975 -79 - 44 games, 9 goals. In January 1978 Boro beat Newcastle 4–2 at St. James Park & Cummins scored Boro's fourth goal prompting match commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme to say another of his famous one liners. Immediately after the goal Wolstenholme said "That gives him (Cummins) ten out of ten & one for neatness".In December '78 Boro beat Chelsea 7-2 at Ayresome Park & Cummins had four assists. He joined Sunderland in November 1979 at the age of 20, for £300,000, the Club's most expensive signing in their 100-year history. Between 1979 - 1983, he played 133 games, 29 goals, & resigned for Sunderland 1984-85 season, 17 games 0 goals.

Morning Erimus- one notable omission from your list - Dicky Rooks! I loved this no nonsense centre half.

Remember him playing as a striker for us against Cardiff. He scored a hat trick, trouble was Cardiff got  5! Sent us down to the old Third Division

Yes winner takes all v Cardiff.

Winners stays up, losers goes down

Good shout Nosmo-king 👍

Dicky Rooks was the clubs penalty taker when big John signed the following season
On John Hicktons debut, standing in for Dicky Rooks who was injured, at 2-0 down to Workington we were awarded a penalty, no one would take responsibility so big John, on his debut & 22nd birthday, grabbed the ball, placed it on the spot & smashed it home, bringing us back in to the game at 2-1 down, which we went on to win 3-2

Big John took the spot kicks after that

Starting with a proper right-back & O'Brien in central midfield is a must. Sadly, I don't think  he'll do either.

Whats the problem, Blotto? Do you have objections to people giving opinions on MFC on a... wait for it... MFC message board. Or do you think every single post should be about the views of pretentious tits from another message board?

All together now, Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn!
