After Ketterning Town in 1901, Goole Town in 1913 & South Shields in 1928, Grantham became our 4th non league opponents throughout our history in the FAC 3rd round, as a league club

Grantham were plying their trade in the southern Premier league

The game ended 2-0 to the mighty Boro with goals with David Mills scoring his 7th of the season & his 2nd FAC career goal
David Armstrong doubled our lead for his 4th of the season & his 1st FAC goal on his 1st FAC appearance, a record attendance 6,573 which is still a record to this day

Big Jack put out a strong Boro team back then, as was the case, never seem to rest players no matter who the opposition were, hardly ever played fringe players, unless resting players who may have been carrying knocks
