In With the Lurpak

The chemical industry is not what it was years ago these days they fill roles with absolute morons. You know your stuff Erimus and maybe you have seen this change . You're the sort they call the last of the best of us. I actually spoke to a brand new starter on our place he had never set foot on a chemical plant in his life now this person suddenly found himself in a 45k a year job thanks to being buddies with a gaffer, After a week or so on

the plant he had become an expert in his own mind  :diego:  We spoke about various chemicals & Possible loss of containment cyanide was

mentioned where he had the brass neck to tell me cyanide is not that dangerous     :unbelievable:

Years ago these idiots would not have been allowed through the gate to deliver a box of nuts n bolts but these days these plants are full of complete half wits . the knowledge has left the game and replaced with fools half of which are bone idle to the core.

Quote from: erimus74 on June 12, 2024, 05:11:02 PMToday is my 1st day back for my last cycle at work, just 11 shifts to go till I call it a day, 6 day shifts, 5 night shifts

No more blocks of 10 off, only 2 more blocks of 4 off

When I finally drive out of those gates it will be one emotional journey

Erimus lad,

You've always come across as a geezer who appreciates the satisfaction of a good day's graft. I am intrigued into your emotional state as you approach retirement. Do you have a plan for the first few weeks/months? I am a reasonable chunk younger than you, but reaching that point in life where I'm trying to map out the rest of it. Trying to learn from the best of them and you are certainly firmly ensconced into that category.

I actually thought I would just carry on working, absolutely loved my job, got on well with everyone who I worked with, the younger lads looked after me, walked up to 25/30k steps a shift at work, at times my body was telling me enough was enough, nights were catching with me, tired for 2/3 days of my 4 rest days, so on new years eve, at 63, I just decided & handed in my notice, 6 months down the line the day is almost here to cut my ties with work completely

The next 6 months will determine what my journey is, once I come through that I'm getting back out on my pushbike, I hope to write a book on the Boro, go on holidays with my wife & family, enjoy my garden with a beer, or two & not worry about needing a swap for a Boro home game

Basically, its going in to the unknown really, hobbies I have is my garden, cycling, Boro memorabilia, but I'm going to grab it with both hands & fingers crossed, enjoy my retirement

Final shift tonight then thats me finished work completely

Would have loved to have gone in just to be sent home early & drive out the gate for the final time

Do I sit up all night & go to bed at 20 past 7 in the morning as I would have done 😉

He'll do that and more.

Lets never forget, socialists HATE successful businesses. The word 'profit' is as despised as private ownership. They'll turn this country into a low economy, state controlled basket case within 18 months.

I've continued to work mainly out of choice but with a little push from my boss. Main reason is I am deferring taking any of my private pension. Only doing this as my private pension ain't up to much! And for part time work I get well remunerated.

Doing the general election on Thursday for some additional bunce so not really slowing down at all.The money is allowing me to get all upstairs decorated, new lighting, skirting boards and 5 doors ( all upstairs) without touching savings. So all in all wellworth my while!

Well Mr Erimus,

Now that you're retired, will you take Me & Colin for a walk in the park?

We get bored, cos we don't work, ya know, trawling through the internet, twitter etc, it gets boring after a while?

Would you take us to that Stuart park, we'd like to go to the museum.

The Avenue of trees, Seal sands roundabout?

We might have to go in your car as we not walking all that way . . . It's f**king miles.

You can tell us all your tales, you know real Boro ones, The Bongo and that.

Not about graft though, we don't do patsy.

Oh . . . And why do people on here call you E Man, is is it some kind of mind bending drugs term?

Cos we don't do drugs so don't give us any.

Just a gentle pat on the head, scratch behind the ear, you know the sort of stuff, will do.

Will you bring us some dinner too?

🐾
Why must I feel like that . . . Why must I chase the 🐈

😉👍

I'll need to get my steps in too AD now im retired

AtomicDog

We'll why your hot stepping, we'll be eyeing the talent up.

In the park we might add, not being misogynist.

Ya know "Funny type's"

We don't mean the likes you'd put in the stock's, ridicule in day's of yore.

Just funny, pleasant people, not like the "Comedians" on ere.

We'd watch our Stan Bored Man box sets for that.

We like the seaside too you know, chasing donkeys, causing chew?

We were dead ard once over too ( not a euphemism). . . But that's an old story.

Now we just meander around aimlessly, watching the world go bye.

We haven't got a TV licence either, but don't grass us up.

We've got a dansette and some great 7"s
Too.

Bring some talc, when you pick us up, we'll show you how to bust a move.

The mug in our house has just had some great laminated flooring fitted too.
