Blott

I went from finance for over 40 years to just above basic pay. I have never been happier. As I say to the people at work, I go through the security gates, put my brain in the fridge, 10 hours later take it out and drive home.

Great news Erimus I can't get my pension till I'm 65 from BASF/ICI I was cond into going to a defined contribution pension when I was younger so I have to wait till then to get a decent pension but a lot less than what I would have if ICI was still around
Still enjoy your retirement you deserve it

Erimus, congratulations on your retirement! I retired today also, although mine is not so clear cut as my boss is really on a charm offensive to keep me in the business in some capacity!

He is coming to take us ( my Mrs) out to dinner. 85 mile round trip.

Will listen to what he has to say and make a decision based on that.

Be an interesting evening for sure.

I'll have to make sure i have enough income to fuel my cocaine habit before i retire

TerryCochranesSocks

Great decision Erimus. Hoping to do the same this year (if I can sell my business).
I'll be 57 in July.

Just make sure you keep "active" doing things you enjoy with people you love.
You'll be just fine.

"I'll be 42 when I retire from the army I'm gonna be a postie until I'm 65 then pull the plug 👍👍👍"

Maybe in an ideal world....but speaking as ex military myself (25 yrs), the idea of becoming a postie is more popular than beer on the street of a thousand bars, and acheiving this target is as rare as rocking horse shit......EVERY ex serviceman has/had the same idea (inc me).  Postie jobs are almost impossible to get....unless you're ITK!

By the way......congrats Erimus.  My ex wife fucked up my retirement with her greed....so Im a few yrs away from feet up!

I am closer to fully than semi retired. Still not 60.

I simply cannot cope with all the woke nonsense that now pervades the workplace. It's fucking depressing.

My view is that after 70, the chances are you'll slow down, become immobile and/or get something that fucks up your body or even die. Between 60-70 you can generally enjoy yourself with a bit of pension money.Enjoy and good luck.
