Back in 1876 when talk was mentioned about forming a football club which grew till it had its 1st ever friendly match on the 1st march 1877, a year after the 1st meeting, with a certain Jackson Ewbank recorded as the Boro's 1st ever goalscorer when he netted our goal in a 1-1 draw with Teess wanderers, a local rugby team

Roll on a few years the Boro love in was growing with the Cleveland cup & twice winners of the FA amateur cup in the cabinet

The book my son bought me, pictures posted, is the front cover, but more interestingly, the 2nd picture, the team photo, there is a payer laying down front row, another David Shearer, didnt know there was another one, but middle row, the one & only Jackson Ewbank, not seen a team photo with him in before, pure class

Boro won the 1st of two FA Amatur cups in 1895, the team photo line up shows front row captain Tom Bach facing away from the camera, rumour has it that he was superstitious & wouldnt look face on into a camera
