This day 3rd December 1975 Boro made history when booking our 1st ever league cup semi final slot, after winning 2-1 at Bury, Derby 1-0 at Ayresome Park, Peterborough 3-0 at Ayresome Park we travelled to Turf Moore to face fellow first division Burnely, who a few months back beat us 4-1 but Boro wernt going to be bitfen twice as the gained revenge in the best possible way with a 2-0 in the league cup 5th round to reach our 1st ever league cup SF

Goals from David Mills, his 6th career league cup goal & the late, Willie Maddren with his 2nd career league cup goal, were enough to see us through

Big Jacks team

Jim Platt
John Craggs
Terry Cooper
Bobby Murdoch
Stuey Boam
Willie Maddren
Peter Brine
David Mills
John Hickton
Alan Foggon
David Armstrong - Tony McAndrew

Tony McAndrew made his league cup debut when replacing David Armstrong in the 2nd half, very rare seeing David  Armstrong getting subbed, only happened once before & 4 times after until his transferred

Playing Man City in the Semis is one of my first Boro memories.

Such a disappointment both legs. We should have scored a hat full at home and only managed 1. Second leg Peter Barnes destroyed us. Think we conceded first minute and never recovered.

Didnt help getting there late, in Willie Maddrens brilliant, funny & sad autobiography extra time he mentions the players so late getting to the ground that they had to get changed on the coach, not ideal, similar to our playoff final v Norwich

Blott

Yes outstanding stuff Erimus. All I can remember of that night was the number of city fans all over the ground.
