Anglo Scottish Cup final 1st leg

Boro 1 Fulham 0

Hands up those who were genually excited about playing in a cup final, when given our history, apart from the North Riding Senior Cup finals, us Boro fans were pretty thin on the ground when cup finals come along, so this was the biggy

We wern't really too bothered how many we scored to take to the second leg in December, as long as we took a lead & a lead we took
Terry Cooper swung over a cross from the left hand side & David Armstrong diving full length headed the ball which then hit Fulhams defender, Les Strong & into the back of the holgate net
1-0 to the mighty Boro, no more than we deserved, after missing numerous chances in a goaless first half we continued taking the game to Fulham in the 2nd half & were eventually rewarded with a crucial goal & a lead we took to Craven cottage 2 weeks later

One hand on the trophy 👍🤞

I was eight at the time and still remember it well.
Somehow, I don't remember feeling cold that night.
We should have had a much bigger lead to take for the away leg.
