Boro manager Raich Carter brought Stan to the club as a player coach, not manager back then, unheard of before

Unfortunately it didn't result in a Boro victory but our 2nd home defeat of the season, 2-0 down after 10 minutes, Eric McMordie doubled his Boro account giving us a bit of hope, but then disaster struck, Cardiff bagged another couple of goals to take a 4-1 half time lead, John Toshack scored a brace that day

2nd half started & Boro went at Cardiff, Eddie Holliday scored to bring the score to 4-2 & just after the hour Stan Anderson bagged his 1st of 2 goals that season to bring the Boro right back in to it, 3-4, he became the 82nd different Boro player to score on his Boro debut (according to my stats)

Boro huffed & puffed but couldn't get a 4th to force a draw that seemed impossible at half time

Later in the season (February) Raich Carter was sacked, with Harold Shepherdson standing in as temp manager from February to April till a successor was found

Stan was that successor, becoming our 16th manager, so from April till the end of the season Stan accepted the boards wishes to become Boro's 3rd manager that season when taking over the reigns as 1st team manager to try & save the Club from relegation to the 3rd division for the 1st time in our history, which unfortunately he couldn't do
