As a league club

Boro winning 2-1 at Preston, with goals from 2 famous 'George' in Carr & Elliott

Boro finished 18th that season, our joint lowest league position as a football league club, this was our penultimate first divison season, before their 1st ever season to be relegated

Manager Jimmy Howie, was in his 3rd & final season at the club

This season & the previous seasons after WW1 seen teams play each other home & away within weeks

George Carr was one of the famous Carr brothers who didn't begin his time at South bank, signed for Bradford Park Avenue & once he heard of Boro's interest he replied, "only if the club give benefits to his brothers" jackie & Willie, only the football league could sanction such deals

He eventually signed for the Boro in 1919 & Jackie & Willie, along with another goalscoring legend, Andy Wilson enjoyed a £650 benefit game in April 1922
